19. BANISHREE-A Scheme of Scholarship for Students with Special Needs:

     The main purpose of the scholarship to the students with special needs is to assist and encourage them to study as well as acquire technical/ professional/ vocational training so as to enable them to earn a living and to become useful members of the society.

The scheme shall apply to students:

i. Pursuing primary education (Std. I to V).
ii. Reading in middle 8s high schools (Std. VI to XO, not covered by Govt. of India Scholarship.
iii. Reading in colleges/ universities, not covered by Govt. of India Scholarship,
iv. Reading in special schools registered under PWD, Act,   1995, but not receiving grant-in-aid from State/ Central Govt.
v. Pursuing distance education through recognized universities Govt. Institutes.
vi. Pursuing  technical/ vocational/ professional  education in any of the recognized Institutes.

Eligibility:

For  the purpose  of award  of scholarship  under the  scheme, applications can be submitted subject to fulfilling the following conditions
i. The applicant must be bona fide resident of Odisha.
ii. The applicant should be a regular student of educational Institution,
iii. The parental/ family income of the applicant is not more than Rs. 60,000 per annum.
iv. The   applicant is not  receiving any financial assistance/ stipend/ scholarship from State Govt./ Central Govt. under any other scheme,
v. The student will continue to get the scholarship if he/ she enrolls and regularly attends any recognized institution irrespective of whether he/ she has passed or not in a particular year.

20. Rates of Scholarship:

The rate / amount of this scholarship is as under inside the State:
i. Primary School (Standard I to V)- Rs.200 per month
ii. Middle and High School (Standard VI to X)- Rs.250 per month
iii. College (+2 & +3)- Rs.300 per month
iv. P.G. Level- Rs.350 per month
v. Technical and Vocational Training     - Rs.350 per month.
vi. Study pursuing normal course of studies in Technical and Vocational field outside the State, if not available in the State- Rs.350 per month

21. Scheme for Welfare of Orphaned and Destitute Children:

     The objective of this programme is to prevent destitution of children and thus there is provision for shelter, nutrition, health care, education and vocational guidance for orphaned and destitute children. Orphan and destitute children in the age group of 5-18 years (for boys) and 5-25Yrs. (for Girls) are covered. This scheme is a State Government initiative and is being implemented though the Voluntary Organizations/ NGOs.
