1. Name of the Organization:
District Social Welfare Office, Collectorate, Balasore
The Department of Women and Child Development was set up in 1995 to provide the much-needed focus to programmes aimed at the holistic development of women and children. This is the nodal department for formulating plans, policies and programmes for the development of Women and Children in the district through District Social Welfare Office, Balasore.

10.00 A.M. to 5.30 P.M. on Working days only.

4. Integrated Child Development Service (I.C.D.S.) Scheme:
The I.C.D.S. Programme was lunched in the State of Odisha in 1975 and has been expending over the years. It is the World's longest and most unique integrated programme for early childhood cases and development. The Scheme aims to improve the Nutritional and Health Status of Children below 6 Yrs of age, lay the foundation for their proper physical, psychological and Social Development, and reduce among young children the incidence of mortality, morbidity and malnutrition. Improve the Nutritional and Health Status of Pregnant and Nursing Mother and enhance the capability of mother to look after the normal health and nutritional needs of the child through proper health and nutrition education.
The target groups of the I.C.D.S. Schemes are Pregnant and Nursing mother and children from 0-6 Yrs. of age. They are being benefited by I.C.D.S. Programme through six packages as mentioned below: -

5. Kishori Shakti Yojana (K.S.Y.):
Adolescent is a crucial stage in the life cycle and is the transition from childhood to adulthood. Kishori Shakti Yojana is a component of the I.C.D.S. Scheme and each being implemented to address the needs of adolescent girls in the age group of 11-18 yrs. The scheme aims at improving the Nutritional and Health Status of adolescent girls and promoting among them awareness about health, hygiene, nutrition and family life. This intervention has been specially designated for the adolescent girl who is particularly vulnerable and needs to be protected from discrimination in education opportunities.
