JEEBIKA:

     Odisha Rural Livelihood Programme(ORLP) is an initiative for providing an additional livelihood components to 460 ongoing water shed projects under IWDP and DPAP in the State covering 6 districts namely Koraput, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Kandhmal and Mayurbhanj. The programme is called Jeebika. The additional livelihoods component or the watershed plus would be integrated into the implementation of the existing watershed projects in consecutives 3 years starting from 2007-08 to 2009-10 with a total provision of Rs.9046.96 lakh for landles household by developing alternative and diversified livelihood opportunities.

     During 2007-08 an amount of Rs.700.00 lakhs has been provided for implementation of the programme in 6 districts.

     During 2008-09, Rs.700.00 lakhs has been earmarked against the requirement of Rs.3709.32 lakhs.

PROMOTION OF AGRO ENTERPRENEURSHIP AND APICOL:

     Rs. 50.00 lakhs have been provided as Grant-in-aid to APICOL in 2007-08. Similar amount has been provided for 2008-09.

Agri-Enterprises:

     Establishment of Commercial Agri-Enterprises is one of the prime movers not only for self-employment but also for creation of employment opportunities for others. Capital Investment Subsidy @ 20% subject to a maximum limit of Rs.20.00 lakhs is provided on back-end basis for such ventures through APICOL . 40 Commercial Agri-Enterprises with investment of Rs.105.10 lakh have been promoted up to 15.01.2008.

     During 2008-09 it has been proposed for setting up 100 Commercial Agri-Enterprises and the required subsidy will be met out of Self Employment Programme.

Entrepreneurship Development Programme:

     Under this programme during 2007-08, Rs.3.00 lakh has been spent towards imparting training to 75 unemployed graduates.

     During 2008-09, it is programmed to impart similar training to 210 unemployed graduates with an outlay of Rs 10.00 lakh.

CAPTIVE IRRIGATION DEVELOPMENT:

     The farmers of the State are encouraged to go for creation of captive irrigation sources through Shallow Tube wells (STWs), Bore Wells (BWs), Dug wells (DWs) and River Lift Irrigation Projects (RLIPs) by way of providing subsidy against creation of such assets. From the year 2000-01, Government has tied up funding with NABARD for providing subsidy under the programme.

     During 2007-08, Rs. 4224.00 lakh have been released against which 3274 STWs, 958 BWs, 352 DWs and 5 RLIPs have been established up to 31.1.2008.

     During 2008-09 it has been proposed to sink 9000 STWs, 1800 bore wells, 3000 dug wells and 1200 surface lift projects with a budget provision of Rs.5000.00 lakhs to provide assured irrigation to 19200 hect.

FARM MECHANIZATION:

     Farm mechanization has great significance for enabling farmers to take up timely and quality agricultural operations, reduce costs of production and improve the productivity. Following Farm Equipments / Implements are supplied to farmers at subsidized rates as indicated in the table below.
