Objective/ Purpose of the Public Authority:

To improve the quality of life of poor tribal households in remote areas through livelihood support and food security.

Mission/Vision:

The programme aims  “to ensure that livelihoods and  food security of poor tribal household are sustainably improved through promoting a more efficient equitable self managed and sustainable exploitation of the Natural Resources at their disposal and through off farm/non-farm enterprise development”.

Brief History and background of its establishment:

Champua subdivision is known for its mining activity, still the poor tribal’s need attention to overcome from the hunger & poverty. Champua consisting of three blocks namely Jhumpura, Champua and Joda Block. The subdivision is inhabited by tribal communities which constitute nearly 45.87% population. The areas suffers frequent drought which sets back the backbone of the farmers as a result agricultural production is not significant. The Live & Livelihoods of the tribal’s is miserable & needs specific focus to bring back them into mainstream of the society. People of this area are ignorant about the importance of the conservation & management of natural resources which leads to a distress & miserable lifestyle. Keeping view of this, OTELP Plus programme was introduced to bring back the Tribal’s into mainstream and creates awareness among the community for conservation & management of natural resources.

OTELP PLUS was launched in the year 2019-20 having a goal to improve the quality of life of the poor Tribal households in remote areas through livelihood support and food security. The purpose of the programme is to ensure that the livelihoods and food security of poor tribal households to be sufficiently improved through promoting more efficient, equitable, self-managed and sustainable exploitation of the natural resources and through off-farm/on-farm Enterprise Development.
