1.Aims & Objectives of the Organisation :

  To look the health,sanitation,water supply,roads,safety and public convenience of the citizen of the urban inhabitantants.This includes improvement and up-gradation of the socioeconomical status of the Urban Poors.

2. Mission/Vision:

   Local self Govberment under the statute consisting of the Local people as representatives to the Council for carrying out the Functions as provided under the Odisha Municipal Act/Rules, for the public health,safety and convenience of the citizen of the town.

3.History & Background for its Establishment:

   This Municipality was constitued during the year 1957 as NAC vide G.O. No.3022/LSG dt.14.8.1957 and thereafter upgraded in to Municipality vide G.O. No.10185/Hud dt.13.11.1969

5. Area:

   The Municipal area covers 45.89 Sq Kms. comprising 15(Fifteen) Number of Wards.

    The area is bounded by:

    a. East- Thakurani

    b. West- Ulibur,Nimtur

    c. South - Kasia,Derenda And Balagoda

    d. Singhbhum (Jharkhand State)

6. As per 2011 Census the Population of Barbil Town is 66,540 out of which 34,938 are Male and         31,602 are Female.

7.  Duties to be Performed to Achive the Mission:

     As per the provision of Odisha Municipal Act 1950 and Odisha Municipal Rules 1953.

8. Citizens Interaction:
