1. Brief History and background of the Establishment:
Paradip Port was established in the year 1962 to bring economic upliftment of the state as well as the nation. With the passage of time it achieved the status of being a Major Port in the country. A large number of people rushed to Paradip to find employment in Port trust and engagement in different segment of Paradip. To cater to the needs of Higher Education of the off springs of port trust employees as well as peripheral locality, Paradip college, Paradip was established in the year 1975 with active initiative of Sj. Premananda Tripathy, IAS, the then Chairman of Paradip Port Trust. Subsequently the college was recognized by the Govt. of Odisha and affiliated to Utkal University.
Now the college offers teaching programmes in +2 Arts, Science, Commerce & +3 Arts, Science, Commerce with Hons in all streams. It was accredited Grade ‘B’ by NAAC in the year 2007 as well as 2016. For the academic session 2016-17 CBCS system was introduced in Degree-wing. The college has well-equipped Library & Laboratory which fulfills the needs of co-education. The extension activity wings like NCC (Naval wing), NSS, YRC have been functioning smoothly for the betterment of the student community. IQAC (Inter Quality Assurance Cell) has also been functioning to monitor the academic as well as administrative activities the college. The most impressive aspect of the college since its’ inception is that the Presidents of Governing Body were administrative officers in general and Chairman Paradip Port Trust in particular. Moreover, the Principals of the college from 1975 to 1991 were from Govt. of Odisha on deputation. At present the college is manned by 35 no of teaching 25 nos of non-teaching staff. The student is about 2000. The college is running smoothly with an approved Governing Body.
