Particulars of Organization, Functions and Duties

1. Aim and Objectives of the Organisation:
Maintenance of Bargarh Main Canal from RD 69646 M to Tail including its distribution systems. To provide irrigation to the command area through distribution systems.
2. Brief History and background for its Establishment:
This Sub-division was created during construction of Hirakud Dam Project.This sub-division headed by a Sub-Divisional Officer is in charge of maintenance of irrigation from RD 69.646 km to Tail of Bargarh Main Canal with its distribution system for an ayacut of 29,392. Ha. CCA. The above works have been entrusted among 5 nos. of. Sectional Officers.
3. Allocation of Business:
To provide irrigation to the command area during Khariff and Rabi.
4. Duties tobe performed to achieve the Mission:
Inspection & Supervision of Construction works at field as well as to conduct survey to take up new work. Apart above attend usual routine works at office such as preparation of estimate/ Hydraulic Data/ design/ work charged, NMR bills/ accounts, official correspondences etc.
5. Citizens Interaction:
Consult with the ayacutdars, panipanchayats& local public regarding smooth distribution of irrigation water.
