Aims and objectives of the organization

Forest Department is the administrative department of Government of Odisha, Forest Department is doing conservation, improvement and sustainable management of forest and wild life.  Afforestation and regeneration of degraded forest land and protection of the forest and wild life are the main objectives of the department through promotion of environmental awareness among the community by way of "Joint Forest Management".

Mission/ Vision

Forests have an important role in the economy of the State particularly amongst rural, S.C. and S.T. community.  Forestry activities contribute a lot of food and livelihood to the communities Looking in to today's environmental scenario, the vision of the department is to conserve and protect the existing flora and fauna, also to increase the forest cover.

Brief history and back ground for its establishment

Balasore Wildlife Division has been created, constituted during re-organization of Forest Department w.e.f. 01.10.2003 as per Government of Odisha, Forest & Environment Department Resolution No. 1F (A) - 100/2003-13228/F&E and Notification No. 1F (A) 100/2003-13220/F&E both dated 08th August, 2003. After re-organization, erstwhile Baripada Division has been divided into 3 (three) Divisions, i.e. Baripada Division, Balasore Wildlife Division & Bhadrak Wildlife Division. Previously Balasore Social Forestry Division was functioning from Balasore. After reorganization, all assets of the Social Forestry Division have been transferred to this reorganized division. Previously there were Chandipur, Nilgiri and part of the Betanati Range; these were reorganized to five Ranges i.e. Chandipur, Nilgiri, Kuldiha, Jaleswar and Soro Wildlife Range. This newly reorganized & created forest division is hereafter named & called as Balasore (Wild Life) Division, coming under Baripada Forest Circle, Govt. of Odisha, Forest & Environment Department.

Allocation Business

This Division receives allocation from Forest and Environment Department under Plan and Non Plan Schemes.

Duties to be Performed to achieve the mission

Divisional Forest Officer verify all the field operation carried out by all the Range Officers including protection and conservation of forests and wild life.  Field operations include raising nursery for increasing the tree cover outside the forest  and for restocking the degraded forest. Proper involvement of VSS communities in all the project work in different schemes to improve their livelihood.

Details of services Rendered

Provides a range of services focused on forest protection, wildlife conservation, and environmental management. These services include regulating the movement of forest produce, providing non-timber forest produce to the public, and managing tourist amenities in protected areas. They also play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance, managing forests, and conserving wildlife.

Working hours both for office and public

For this office 10 AM to 5.30 PM with lunch break 1.30 PM to 2 PM for public- every day except Govt. holidays and during summer session the working hours is from 7.00 AM to 1 PM without lunch break.

Public interaction, if any

Office remain opened to the public throughout the office hour.

Grievances Redressal Mechanision

Grievances of general Public is attended by the authority during working hours, it is enquired and steps taken for early redressal.
