Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

- Aims & Objectives of the Organization:
Baripada Forest Circle comprises of 8 Nos of Divisions which includes 3 Nos of 1 Territorial Division. 4 Nos of Wildlife Divisions and one Working Plan j Division. The entire Similipal Tiger Reserve located in this Circle is managed I by two Deputy Directors, i.e. DD. Similipal South (Wildlife) Division,Baripada and Similipal North (Wildlife) Division, Joshipur and part of buffer area is managed by the Baripada, Karanjia and Rairangpur Forest Division under Field Director Similipal Tiger Reserve. The area of the circle comprises the entire Revenue District of Mayurbhanj, Balasore and part of Kendujhar District.

Improvement and Protection of Forests as well as protection and conservation of biodiversity and Wildlife.
- Brief history and back ground for its establishment:
Similipal Forest is the pride of the state of Odisha and also a unique place in the field of Biodiversity. The reach Biodiversity of Similipal Forest spreads over an area of 2750 Sq. Km Which now comes under Baripada circle. The Government have dedicated such a vast forest to fulfill the commitment of protection and conservation of vast biodiversity and wildlife. Before creation of the sanctuary and proposed National Park, the forests of Similipal were being managed as per the prescription of working plan of Baripada and Karanjia Division. After creation of Similipal Tiger Reserve by Govt, of India during 1973, a separate office of Field Director of Similipal Tiger Reserve was created during the Year 1973-74 for administration of the above area. After reorganization vide notification no-IF(A) 99/2003/13214/F&E dated 882003 of govt of Odisha 01/10/2003 Baripada circle have been created with headquarter at Baripada. 3 teritorial division i.e Karanjia, Rairangpur, Baripada and 3 Wildlife division i.e Similipal Tiger Reserve Wildlife division, Bhadrak Wildlife division, Balasore Wildlife division and one working plan division Balasore came under this circle. Subsequently Bhadrak Wildlife division have been transferred from this circle and Keonjhar Wildlife division have been included in this circle. Latter on Similipal Tiger Reserve (WL) division has been divided in to 2 parts and functioned w.e.f. 01/10/2019.Now this circle comprises of 3 teritorial division i.e Keonjhar, Rairangpur, Baripada and 4 Wildlife division i.e Similipal South Wildlife division, Similipal North Wildlife division, Kendujhar Wildlife division, Balasore Wildlife division and one working plan division Balasore. The head of the office has been upgraded vide O.O. no-IF(A)53/09/l 1884/F&E dated 02/07/2011 and accordingly the name of this office is O/o The Field Director Similipal Tiger Reserve-cum-Regional Chief Conservator of Forest, Baripada.

- Allocation Business:
To supervision of all the technical works relating to proper management of forest business and finance of the divisions of Regional Chief Conservator of Forests, Baripada Circle who are executing works under the prescription of working plans, Tiger conservation plan and any direction received from time to time from Government of Odisha as well as Government of India.
- Duties to be Performed to achieve the mission:
Supervision of the activities of D.F.Os and Deputy Directors in the filed about Silviculture management, all the work pertaing to any scheme of afforestation, protection of forest, conservation of biodiversity and scientific management and development of wildlife and other habitat of wildlife.
- Details of Services Rendered: The Regional Chief Conservator of Forests rendered his service to exercise general control and superintendence on all forest and wildlife divisions of the circle and discharge the statutory duties and responsibilities as provided in different Acts and Rules of Odisha Forest Department Code, Working Plans Code and other Govt. orders. Monitoring all plan programmers and furnish consolidated report to State Head Quarters and protection of forest wealth and wildlife management of forests relating to circle.
- Citizens Interactions: Direction issued to Divisional Forest Officers/Deputy Director to implement forestry activities with consultation with VSS/EDC and with the interaction with citizen on their requirements according to the instructions of the Government and higher officers.

- Working hours for both Office and Public:
For Office: 10AM to 5:30PM with lunch break 1:30PM to 2PM
For Public: Everyday from 3:30PM to 5:30PM except Govt. holidays and during summer session the working hours is from 7:00AM to 1PM without Lunch Break.

Interaction with management of forest and wildlife works through EDC/VSS.
- Grievances Redress Mechanism:
Grievances of the public is attended everyday during office hour.
