Aim and Objectives of the Organization:
The prime aim and objective of Odisha State Commission for Women is exclusively meant to provide justice to women of Odisha. The Commission receives complaints of harassed women and try its level best to settle their problems through a systematic counseling of both the parties. Apart from the above, the Commission tries to create legal awareness among women folk by organizing Camp Courts. Seminars. Workshops on various women related issues.

Mission/Vision:
The mission of the Commission is to safeguard the interest of the women of the state and tries to improve the overall status of women work in factories, establishment and construction sites.
Brief History and Background for its Establishment:
The Odisha State Commission for Women was constituted in the state of Odisha on 30.11.92 vide P.R. Department Resolution No 11399 dated 30.11.92. The Odisha State Commission for Women Act, 1993 came into force with effect from 07.10.1999 vide Law Department Notification No. 13850.
The Government has nominated a Chairperson and five Members for smooth functioning of the Commission. The Director. Social Welfare of W & CD. Department is an ex-officio Member of the Commission. The Secretary to Government. W & CD. Department in-charge of Women Welfare is working as Convener Secretary of the Commission. Two posts such as Senior Field Officer (S.F.O) and Assistant Field Officer (A FO.) have been created for the Commission office. At present the post of S.F.O is laying since 1997 and a lady police officer in the rank of Sub-Inspector is working as A.F.O. For day to day functioning of the Commission, it has engaged 36 nos. of staff. Government have approved the employees of the Commission who are engaged by the Commission.
Allocation of business:
The Commission issues Notice/Summons to parties on receiving the complaints with a view to attend mutual settlement between the parties. it also organizes Camp Court in district head quarters to render justice to the petitioner at their door steps. Apart from this, the Commission allocates the activities like Legal Awareness among the women through conducting. Public meeting Workshops and some times suggests the State Government in some circular issues.

Citizen Interaction:
Citizen Interaction is available in office of the Slate Commission for Women during counseling, in district head quarters in Camp Courts and during legal awareness camps and Seminars and workshop relating problems of women.

Public interaction is made in cases of domestic violence against the women of the State.
Grievance redresses mechanism:
The Commission works as grievance redress mechanism by receiving complaints of the victim and examine the petition by registering the file, issue Summons with the purpose of mutual settlement. The primary function of the commission is to redress on complaints even through spot inquiry and Camp Courts. It also covers the problems of women in custody and suggests for improvement on their condition.
