Objectives/ Purpose of the Public Authority:

The main aim & object of this institution is to disseminate the knowledge to the student in different field of Education and over all development of the spear of student in Physical, moral and mental aspects. Games used sports are also an integral part of this institution which inspires the students, to be physically fit.

Inspite of that the Red Cross, NCC, etc. incite figure and enthusiasm and feeling of national integration in the student.

The college also publishes a college magazine annually in different language to develop the creativity inside the student and doing departmental seminars which is essential in society.

The College Crest Comprises five district symbols.They are as follows:

1. The Neelchakra (Cosmic Wheel) of Lord Jagannath in manifestation of Universal Brotherhood. Equality and humanism. This wheel is surmounted by the Patitapaban (Flag) Symbolising Compassion for the suttaring and the down trodden.
2. The scriptural stand for the purpose of reading and reciting mythological scriptures embodies the concept of Ancient wisdom and learning.
3. The Sun is a shining emblem of knowledge and enlightment.
4. The Arunastambha stands as burning torch of human Aspirations, Righteousness and Commitment.
5. The ship reminds of the maritime supremacy and glory of Odisha in the Post.

Apart from these symbols, the Crest Carries the motto "Kamanye Vadhikarestu Maa Phaleshu Kadachanam" as its fundamental value as per "Bhagabat Gita" calling upon us that "To perform the duty without expecting any rewards."

Brief History of the Public Authority and Context of its Formation:

This College was started from the Year 1966 in the name of Government Evening College at Puri, then changed as to Government Morning College, Puri, functioning at morning time then in the same was Samanta Chandra Sekhar Junior College in 2001. This institution has already made a name for itself in academic circles. Today it stands as a pillar of pride churning out thousands of students every year. It has its own share of hurdles but it has overcome them with fortitude and dignity. This college has built for itself a worthy reputation as a dispenser of Quality education.

The main aim of this college is to equip its student with Education and good behavior not only confined to the curriculum but also with knowledge and skills to meet the day to day challenges of the time.

The college is named after "Mohamahopadhya Samanta Chandra Sekhar" the most talented and versatile astronomer of Odisha.He is a poignant figure amongst the Classical astronomers of India. Born on the 9th of December, 1835 at Khandapara in Odisha."Mahamahopadhyaya Chandra Sekhar Sing Harichandan Mohapatra Samanta" better known as Pathani Samanta was very honest, amemorable astronomy, religious generous and a man of high morals. This "Mohamahapadhyaya" title was bestowed upon him by the British Government. He was keen observer and made meticulous observation of celestial objects with instruments that he had made himself. His master piece work was "SIDDHAIMTA DARPAN" published in 1899 A.D. which contains the theory of creating the Panjika being used in all over the Odisha for their every religious work till today which also to be continued so far as a faith & believe" will continue on astrology.

a) The location of the college: The college is situated in the heart of the town, Puri & the holy name is Srikshetra-Purusottam Kshetra.The college is located on the Chandan Hajuri Road in Puri town at a distance of 1 k.m. from Puri Railway Station & around two kilometers from Bus stand & paradisiacal Sea Beach which attract the Pilgrims as a tourist for all over the world.

d) Staff Members: Principal & Forty different faculty members along with eighteen nos. of office & library staff.

e) Library Contains: Total approximately 19000 books including Seven English & Oriya daily Papers & Five periodicals.

f) Hostel: Two nos. of Hostel named Kasturi meant for +2 ladies students and another eminent Hostel "Pather Puri" meant for +2 Gents students Hostel.

g) Utilities: In the College Campus following facilities are available:

i) Vocational College: One Vocational College named Govt. Jr. Vocational College is also functioning inside the College Premises.
