Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]

Aims & Objectives of the Organisation:

To ensure asset creation, after sales service & employment generation in farming sector with commercial sustainability, self-sufficient in food grain production with scientific modern agricultural equipment & implements and creating additional irrigation potentiality.

To promote and sale improved agricultural implements and machineries.

To promote and develop Bio-fertilizer / Organic manure, Cattle and Poultry Feeds.

To train and educate farmers for utilization of Modern Technologies in farming sector.

To promote, implement and execute the State / Central Government Schemes and Programmes in farming sector.

To provide irrigation to the agricultural lands utilizing the surface water and sub-surface water by way of installing dug wells, executing shallow tube wells, bore wells and River lift projects.

To implement the programs of the State Government as envisaged in the State Agriculture Policy.

Mission / Vision:

To enable all farmers of the State to maximize their food grains production by utilizing the benefits offered by the Govt. through the Corporation.

To gain confidence amongst all stake holders of the Corporation

History & Background of Its Establishment:

The Odisha Agro Industries Corporation Ltd. (OAIC) started its operation in the year 1962 under the Agriculture Department, Govt. of Odisha and since then it is catering to the needs of the Farming Community of the State without any grants-in-aid support from the Govt. The major activities of the Corporation as follows:

To improve the productivity OAIC deals with the Chemical & Organic fertilizers, liquid bio-fertilizer & also produces and sale bio-fertilizers like Rhyzobium, Azotobacter etc.

In order to protect the crops from pest attack, it deals with P.P. Equipments and pesticides.

To mechanize the Harvesting system, it deals with the paddy thresher, winnowers, Decorticators etc.

To protect the grain from the rodents, it provides storage bins to the farmers under different schemes.

To improve farm mechanization, the OAIC has been distributing tractors, power tillers, reapers and other improved agriculture implements and providing after sale services with genuine spare parts.

Providing irrigation to the Agricultural lands utilizing the surface water and ground water by way of energizing dug wells, executing shallow tube wells, bore wells and river lift projects.

It has been executing sprinklers and drip irrigation projects.

The OAIC has opened district level office in all 30 districts for the farmers of the State.

BRIEF NOTE ON ACTIVITIES OF TECHNICAL DIVISION OF OAIC LTD.

The Technical Division of O.A.I.C is looking after the Agro Machinery activities as follows.

Sale of Tractor.
Sale of Power Tiller.
Sale of other Agri. Implements/Machineries
Small, Manual & Bullock drawn Implements.

Scheme wise Activities

Tractor

Under State Agriculture Policy, Govt. in Agriculture and Farmers' Empowerment Department has made provision to popularize tractor by supplying at subsidy of Rs.1,20,000/- for tractors having 20 PTO H.P. to 40 PTO H.P. and Rs. 1,50,000/- for tractors having more than 40 PTO H.P. For WSHGs the subsidy amount is Rs. 1, 65,000/- (for 20-40 PTO H.P) & Rs. 2, 10,000/- (For> 40 PTO H.P). The make and models of tractors approved by GOI and SLTC are eligible for sale under DBT implements. The OAIC is the sole implementing agency to execute the scheme. Besides this the OAIC is also providing tractors and other implements to different Government Department & other Agencies. OAIC is also supplying different Agril. Machineries to the farmers under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Power Tiller & Power Reaper

Under Farm Mechanization, OAIC is supplying Power Tiller and Reaper to the farmers under DBT Scheme. In case of power tiller, the subsidy can be availed subject to maximum limit of Rs. 85,000/-for small, marginal, SC, ST & Women farmers and Rs. 1,27,500/- for WSHGs. Similarly, in case of self-propelled paddy reaper subsidy is limited to maximum of Rs. 65,000/- for small, marginal, SC, ST & Women farmers and Rs. 97,500/- for WSHGs. The OAIC is also supplying power tiller and other Agril. Implements to different Govt. Departments/Agency/Institutions/under various scheme.

Plant Protection Equipment

The OAIC provides all types of plant protection equipment under DBT as follows.

Manual Sprayer - Subsidy @50% of the cost, limited to Rs. 750/- for small, marginal, SC, ST & Women farmers and @75% of the cost limited to Rs. 1175/-for WSHGs.
Power operated Sprayer Subsidy @50% of the cost, limited to Rs. 3,000/-for small, marginal, SC, ST & Women farmers and @75% of the cost limited to Rs. 4500/-for WSHGs.

Power operated Thresher (All type) and Axial flow thresher

The OAIC is providing all types of Axial Flow Thresher under DBT subject to maximum limit of Rs.1,00,000/- for small. marginal, SC, ST & Women farmers and Rs. 1,50,000/-for WSHGs.

Pump Sets

OAIC is also supplying petrol/Diesel/ Electric irrigation pump sets under DBT.

Combine Harvester

OAIC is also supplying Combine Harvester to the farmers under DBT scheme with the subsidy of Rs.3,00,000/- for each Harvester.

OAIC is supplying different Agril. Machinery/Implements for establishment of Custom Hiring Centres in different PACS/LAMPCS/Pani Panchayats in the State.

BRIEF NOTE ON ACTIVITIES OF AGRO INPUT DIVISION OF OAIC LTD.

1.Supply of different need based Agro inputs under Rice Fallow Management (RFM) and Intensive Agriculture Programme.

2.Supply of Dolomite under RFM.

3.Supply of inputs to different departments under MGNREGS & DMF by the District Managers.

BRIEF NOTE ON ACTIVITIES OF ENERGISATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE DIVISION OF OAIC LTD.

Create additional irrigation potential the state, as well as crop productivity and farmer's income.
Provide irrigation equipment and system to farmers for optimal utilization of available water for irrigation.
To provide Solar Irrigation system as an alternative, clean and free energy for irrigation.
The Corporation takes up the following activities under different Govt. sponsored programme: (a) Under Jalanidhi-II scheme-
Cluster Micro River Lift Irrigation Projects (MRLIP)

Project cost- Rs.3.15 lakh

Govt. Share- Rs.2.95 lakh

Farmer's share- Rs.0.20 lakh

Irrigation aya-cut-2.0 hect.

Cluster Solar Micro River Lift Irrigation Project (SMRLIP)

Project cost- Rs. 4.25 lakh

Govt. Share-4.05 lakh

(b) Under "Sustainable Harnessing of Ground Water in Water deficit area”.

Shallow Tube well Projects (STWP)

Project cost- Rs.5.18 lakh

0.5 hp solar irrigation system

Solar Bore Well Irrigation Projects (SBWP).

(d) The Corporation supplies Electrical/Diesel Pump Set to individual beneficiaries as

subsidized rate under different Govt. Scheme in Agriculture and Farmer's empowerment

department.

(e) The Corporation takes up the supply and installation of Micro Irrigation System such as Sprinkler and Drip irrigation system in different Govt. Schemes for optimal use available water in different crops.

DIVERSIFIED ACTIVITY

The Corporation has undertaken construction of Civil Engineering structures and allied works on turnkey basis, with an attempt to diversify activity of Division.

The Corporation supplies fruit & Vegetable crates, tarpaulin etc. To different department.
