1. Brief History of the Public Authority:
Nilakantheswar Vidyapitha, South Balanda was established in the year 1979-80 by the Mohanadi Coal Fields Ltd. Jagannath Area, Talcher to eater the educational needs of the employees of M.C.L. and the locality. It is situated between the colony of South Balanda. Total area of the School is 5 acres and having a large infrastructure. To manage the school a committee was formed and approved by the D.S.E, Odisha, Bhubaneswar as per the government norms. The School was recognized by the B.S.E., Odisha, Cuttack in the year 1980-81 and permission was also accorded by the Govt. of Odisha, SM&E, Bhubaneswar to run the School. The School was presented his first batch of students to appear at the H.S.C Examination during 1982-83. Since then the School was achieved its glory in different fields, categorically its remarkable results in past 15 years in the H.S.C. examinations and more than 96% . In the long run the School has able to conduct many exhibitions like Science, Scout. Games & madegrand success. The SM&E, Department has declared this School is drawing and disbursing school. This is a mark of status of the School in the level of Secondary School. During the year 2009-10 the school has been selected by the BSE, Odisha and as well as Inspector of School, Dhenkanl as a evaluation Center and the same is running in defeating manner. The School has a large infrastructure and beautiful surroundings. During the past years the Students strength is about 950. Some students have taken part in the different of the state level exhibition and received national prizes. More or less the School has maintained a good cultural heritage.
