Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties
[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]
1) Aims and Objectives of the Organization:
To look after the health, sanitation, water supply, roads, safety and public convenience of the citizen of the urban inhabitants. This includes improvement and up-gradation of the socio-economical status of the Urban Poor's
2) Mission/ Vision:
Local Self Government under the statute consisting of the local people as representatives to the Council for carrying out the functions as provided under the Odisha Municipal Act/ Rules, for the public health, safety and convenience of the citizens of the town.
3) Brief History and Background for Its Establishment:
This Notified Area Council was constituted vide Govt. Notification No. 3582/ LSG. Dt. 3l.03.1962 under the provision of OM. Act, 1950 comprising of Jamada, Larpank, Sardhapali, Taranagar, Lumbdungri, Re-settlement camp and Nua- Hirakud Settlement Camp. The area of this Notified Area Council has been subsequently extended by inclusion of Village Taranagar vide Govt. Notification No, Spl. Ext.-16-77-11843/ HUD. Dated 27.3.1978 and it has been implemented since 1.4.1978.

This Notified Area Council comprises of a total area of 11.13 Sq. Km with a population of 26394 as per 2001 Census.
4. Organization Chart:
The Hirakud NAC is the head of the Department as per Rule 428 of Odisha Municipal Rules, 1953. The Chairperson is the head of the Department.
The Executive Officer is the Controlling Officer. The following sections work under this N.A.C.
(a) General Office Establishment including bills and budget headed by a Junior Assistant.
(b) Public Works section: The Junior Engineer is heads of tnis section comprising 2 work sarkar, one Amin & one Peon Assist to him.
(c) Tax Section: One Junior Asst. of the section head & 5 Nos. of Octroi Mohair and 5 Nos. of Octroi Peon work under this section.
(d) Sanitation: One Octroi Moharir is supervision of Sanitation work. He supervises the work of 30 Sweepers & Sweepress sanitation section to supervise the work of Sweepers. 3 no, of Tractor of the N.A.C. lift the garbage of the town.

6. Duties to Be Performed to Achieve the Mission:
As per the provisions of Odisha Municipal Act 1950 and Odisha Municipal Rules-1953.
7. Details of Services Rendered: Sanitation, street lighting, water supply, providing roads, drains, culvert, maintenance of water reservoirs etc 8. Citizens interaction: By organizing awareness meeting on L.S.G.Day and other occasion in the interaction is usually made. 9. Working Hours both For Office and Public: Office Hours: 10.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M. 12. Public interaction, if any: By organizing awareness meeting on L.S.G. Day and other occasions the interaction is usually made. 13. Grievance redresses Mechanism: One Stenographer is the in charge of public grievance, a register has been maintained for compliance of the grievances.
Public for Sanitation: 6 00 A.M. to 11.00 A.M. & 2 00 P.M to 5,00 P.M.
During summer: 7.00 A.M. to 1P.M.
