Introduction

This Notified Area Council (N.A.C.) has been constituted with the following villages and started functioning w.e.f. 15.5.1955 vide Notification No.  3689 dated 02.05.1955. This Municipality having with 17 wards with Population 28,870.

  1. The revenue generated for local administration: Revenue generated during the year    2016-17 is Rs. 41.63 lakhs and Assessment of Holding Tax of all households in two revenue village (Marathiguda & Soura Pradhani Guda) are being done.
  1. The percentage of employment in Non – agriculture activities, including education , health, ICDS Sector : 90%
  1. The Economic importance i.e. Educational hub, Roads, Bridges, Link to BBSR, PVTG population etc.

(1). Educational Hub: There are 31 Primary School, 5 High School and 4 Colleges situated under Gunupur NAC area including two revenue Villages.

(2). Roads: There are different types of roads existing in the Gunupur  NAC. The Roads are maintained by the NAC.

ii. Concrete Road                            : 79.335 KM
 iii. Metal Road                                 : 34.17   KM

iv. Earthen Road                              : 32.03   KM

                                    Total            : 183.41 KM

(3) Bridges: There are 6 no’s of bridges situated under Gunupur NAC area   including two revenue villages.

(4) Link to BBSR:  There are 3 no’ of Bus Gunupur to BBSR, One Express                                          Train and One Passenger train Gunupur to BBSR.                                                                  

(5) PVTG population: Nil.

Smt. Kabita Sabar is the Chairperson and Sri Mukhi Venkat Ravana is the Vice-Chairperson of this Municipality. Sri Bhabagrahi Sahoo is working as Executive Officer of this Municipality.

Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

Aims and Objective of the Organisation:

To look after health, sanitation, water supply, roads, safety and public convenience of the citizen of the urban inhabitants. This includes improvement and up-gradation of the socio­economical status of the urban poor's.

Mission/Vision:

Local Self Government under the status consisting of the local people as representatives to the Council for carrying out the function as provide under the Odisha Municipal Act/Rules for the public health, safety and convenience of the citizen of the town.

History and Back Ground for Its Establishment:

This Municipality was constituted in the year 1955 vide Notification No.3689 dated 2.5.1955 of erstwhile L.S.G. Department, Odisha. The area of this Municipality is 11.65 Sq. KM comprising of the following villages.

(1) Gunupur, (2) Old Gunupur, (3) Nuagan, (4) Kapilpur, (5) Bikrampur, (6) Korabanko, (7) Katuwalguda, (8) Arsinguda & (9) Karnaguda.

Organisation Chart:

The Gunupur Municipality is the head as per rule 428 of Odisha Municipal rule, 1953. The Chairperson is the head of the Department. The Executive Officer is the Controlling Officer. The following sections work under this Municipality .

a) General Office Establishment headed by a Head Assistant.
b) Bills, Budget & accounts managed by the Junior Assistant.
c) Public work section: - The Junior Engineer is head of this section & one Work Sarkar is assistant to the Junior Engineer.
d) Tax Section: - One Cashier heads the section & other Tax Collectors work under this section.
e) Sanitation: - One Sanitary Inspector, two Zamadars & one Section Helper are kept in charge of supervision of sanitation work. They supervise the work of 25 Sweepers. Two tractors JCB 2DX Machine & one Cess Pool Emptier are under this section.
