Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]

1. Objective/ Purpose of the Public Authority:

The aim and objectives of the Directorate of Health Services is to facilitate the improvement in the Health Status of the people of Odisha and make available in specially equitable, accessible and affordable manner within a responsible time. The objectives of the organization is to implement various programmes/ Project/ Schemes to ensure adequate and optional health care to the people with emphasis on the under prevail aged and vulnerable population such as tribal, backward classes and rural poor people Adequate qualitative, preventive and curative Health Care are being focused through Allopathic system. The key elements of the programme against major communicable diseases equity and accessibility health care services, skill up gradation, staff motivation and diagnostic facilities.

State's health priorities include infrastructure development of malaria control, leprosy elimination, T.B. Control, Filarial control & to realize the above objectives various national Vector Borne Diseases Control Programmes NLEP, National Programme for Control of Blindness NPCB, National Filaria Control Programme, revised long term action plan (RLTAP) in KBK districts (Mobile Health Unit, Panchabyadhi etc.) are being implemented in the state.
