Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (I)]

O/o the Panchayat Samiti Office, Banki-Dampada, Cuttack is located at Banki-Dampada, Cuttack, Odisha.

1) Brief History & Background for the establishment:   

Banki-Dampada Panchyat samiti stared functioning w.e.f. 1.4.1960 

This Block is situated in the western side of cuttack district at a distance of 50 kms from dist. hd. qrs. & 65 kms from state head qrs. This Block is surrounded by Baranga Block in the east, Begurnia Block in the south, Banki Block on the west & Banki / Tigiric Blocks on the North. River Mahanadi is flowing on the north side of this Block area.

 This office comes under the Department of Panchayati Raj, Govt. of Odisha.

 The main function of this institution is to the aim of this Office is to promote Rural Development and to execute Anti poverty programmes giving special emphasis on Socio-Economic development of weaker section of people. It also implements different schemes and programmes from time to time as directed by the Government.

2) Aims & Objective of the Public Authority:

The aim of this Office is to promote Rural Development and to execute Anti poverty programmes giving special emphasis on Socio-Economic development of weaker section of people. It also implements different schemes and programmes from time to time as directed by the Government.

3) The following Schemes are being executed:

i) B.G.B.O (Bikasit Gaon Bikasit Odisha Yojana):

This is the State sponsored Scheme for Development of Infrastructure of the Local area and project for water conservation Rural connectivity, Development of Religious  spot are taken up in the Scheme.

ii) M.G.N.R.E.G.S. (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.):

It has been implemented to provide wage earning opportunity for a period of 100 days to the Rural families and there by create assets for Irrigation purpose, Road connectivity, Plantation, A forestation etc.

iii) MLALAD (Member of legislative Assembly Local Area Dev. Scheme)

To Improve Infrastructure and essential facilities within the constituency area of the Hon'able MLA.

iv) MPLAD (Member of Parliament Local Area Dev. Scheme)

To Improve Infrastructure and essential facilities within the constituency area of the Hon'able MP.

v) P.M.A.G.Y (Pradhan Manty Ararsh Grama Yojana)

This is a Central sponsored scheme for Development of Infrastructure of the Local area and project for water conservation Rural connectivity street lighting are taken up in the Scheme.

Vi) S.P.F (Special Problem Fund)

This is the State sponsored Scheme for Development of Infrastructure of the Local area and project for water conservation Rural connectivity are taken up in the Scheme.

Vii) S.D.P (Special Development Programme)

This is the State sponsored Scheme for Development of Infrastructure of the Local area and project for water conservation Rural connectivity are taken up in the Scheme.

Viii) C.G.F (Critical Gap Fund)

This is the State sponsored Scheme for Development of Infrastructure of the Local area and project for water conservation Rural connectivity are taken up in the Scheme.

ix) P.M.A.Y-G (Pradhan Mantry Awas Yojana-Gramin)

This is a Central sponsored scheme to provide RCC Roof house to Poor people living in Kutcha house.

x) Antadoya Gruha Yojana

This is a State sponsored scheme to provide RCC Roof house for Women Headed Family, Fire Victim, Poorest of the poor family.

xi) P.D.S. (Public Distribution System):

To ensure proper distribution of SFSA & NFSA Rice & Wheat, Antodaya Anna Yojana rice, Annapurna Anna Yojana rice through Gram Panchayats and Retail Centres.

xii) Social Security Schemes:

This scheme is meant for old destitute, Disability person, Widow, unmarried and helpless poor persons for which Government is giving Rs.3500/-, 1200/- & 1000/- category wise per month for their care through different schemes such as O.A.P. (Old Age Pension), N.O.A.P (National Old Age Pension), W.P. (Widow Pension), O.D.P. (Orthopedically Disabled Pension) etc.

(a) N.F.B.S (National Family Benefit Scheme)

This is a Central Govt. sponsored scheme to provide financial assistance to a claimant of deceased, who have died within the age group of 19-60 and comes under 1997 BPL Category.

(b) MBPY (Madhubabu Pension Yojana - SOAP)

This is state sponsored scheme to provide financial assistance of Rs. 3500/- per month to the persons who are as the age of 80 years or above and Widow irrespective of age & Rs. 1000/- per month to the person who are as the age of 60 years to 79 years & Rs. 1000/- per month to unmarried women whose age is above 40 years.

(c) MBPY (Madhubabu Pension Yojana - ODP)

This is state sponsored scheme to provide financial assistance to of Rs. 3500/- per month to disable person whose disabilty percentage is 80% or above & Rs. 1200/- whose disability percentate is below 79%.

(d) IGNOAP (Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension)

This is Central sponsored scheme to provide financial assistance of Rs. 3500/- per month to the persons who are as the age of 80 years or above and Widow irrespective of age & Rs. 1000/- per month to the person who are as the age of 60 years to 79 years.

xiii) S.H.Gs. (Self Help Groups):

To improvement of Women in Rural area through Mission Sakti and its overall supervision through B.D.O., A.B.D.O., P.E.Os., B.P.M. & B.L.C (OLM). 

xiv) Supervision Of Gram Panchayats:

To inspect and supervise by Gram Panchayat Development Officer of GPs and all GP level Works and to ensure the functioning of Gram Panchayats.

xv) SC & ST Development Scheme:

To provide pre-metric scholarship to SC/ST students reading in class 6 to 10 in educational department institutions. Deals in regulation 2/56, OLR 23 A money landing etc.

4) Working Hours of the Office: From 10.00 A.M. to 5.30 P.M.
