This office comes under the Department of Panchayati Raj, Govt. of Odisha.
The main function of this institution is to act as the middle tier in established 3 tier PRIs as institutions of Self Government.

1. Objective/ Purpose of the Public Authority:
To act as the middle tier in established 3 tier PRIs as institutions of Self Government.
2. Mission/ Vision:
a) To enable PRI to Plan and Implement the Schemes for Economic Development of their Poverty Striven People Living in Pottangi, Block.
b) To ensure through PRIs the prosperity and quality life in its territory.
3. Brief History of the Public Authority and Contents of its Formation:
Pottangi Block has started functioning from 1.4.1964 Now this Block is functioning as CD Stage-I and declared as T.D. Block phase with effect from 1.01.1967 in the Dist of Koraput. This book is located in the state boundary adjacent to Andhra Pradesh. And is stretched over an area of 320.00 Sq. Km covering 14 G.Ps and 102 Revenue Villages and 345 hamlets. The Total Population of the Block is 58211 as per 2001 census out of which SC Population of the Block is 4516 ST Population is 38981 and others 147414.
4. Duties of the Public Authority:
To monitor the utilisation of funds received by the Panchayat Samiti and Gram Panchayats to carry out development works and poverty amelioration programme.
5. Main Activities and Functions of the Public Authority:
a. To monitor the functioning of Panchayat Samiti and gram panchayat within the framework of powers and authorities entrusted in a 3 tier PRIs system.
b. To supervise and monitor the utilization of funds received by the Panchayat Samiti and Gram Panchayats for implementation of wage employment and self employment programmes and to utilize the funds received by it for such programme.

Appointed as P.I.O vide Office Order No. 2311 Dt.23.11.2010.and as per Govt. in P.R. dept. Lt. No. 23367, dtd. 8.12.11. Duties To look to the Smooth implementation of Anti-Poverty Programmes. To assist B.D.O in implementation of Block Programmes. 3 Designation Assistant Engineer Powers Administrative To check measure the Development works up to Rs. 5.00 lakhs. Financial Technical Sanction of Projects within the limit of Rs. 5.00 lakhs. Duties To monitor & guide the JEs-in-execution of Development works. To assist B.D.O. in preparation of annual action plan for development works. 4 Designation J.Es/ GPTAs Powers Duties To monitor & render Technical guidance for execution of development works in GP & Samiti level. 5 Designation GPEO Powers Administrative First Appellate Authority under RTI Act for GPs. Duties To inspect the functioning of GPs & to assist B.D.O in such inspection. Assist B.D.O in conducting of GP Elections. 6 Designation SEO Powers Duties To assist B.D.O in execution of Social Security Programmes in the Block. Assist B.D.O in supervision of functioning of NGOs in Block.
