Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]

1) Aims and Objectives of the Organization:

   To create public awareness on implementation of Govt schemes,publicity of various plans and programmes through print and Electronics media,organise various meetings of the District,state and National importance,submit the day to day press release on important meetings.

2) Mission/ Vision:

   To ascertain the reaction of the public regarding various activities of the Govt. and apprise the public about the plans and programmes of the Govt. through different media.

3) Brief History and Background for its Establishment:

   The Angul information and Public Relations District started functioning since 17.9.1979 consisting of four sub divisions having S.D.I & P.R.Os with their subordinate ministerial staffs. There are 5 nos. of Information centers cum, Reading rooms under the control of DI&PRO, Angul. Govt. has supplied T.V Radio, Books and daily news papers and magazines to this Reading Rooms.

4) Organisation Charts: The District headed by the Dist.Information & Public Relations Officer in the cadre of class-II and three sub-divisions like Talcher,Athamallik and Pallahara headed by Sub-Divisional Information & Public Relations Officer in the cadre of class-III(Special Gazetted).

5) Allocation of Business:

   To provide information through newspapers, Radio, T.V. in the five numbers of information centers functioning at Angul, Talcher, Pallahara, Athamallik, and Bamur. The opening hour of the Information centers is from 8.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. in each Govt working days. To arrange public address system of the important Govt. meetings, provide books to the readers through lending library system.

6) Duties to be Performed to Achieve the Mission:

    To keep good and cordial relation with public as well as press reporters for highlight of the various activities of the Govt.

7) Details of Services Rendered:

   To apprise the Collector about the news published in news paper through press clippings daily. Take necessary action in the matter as directed. Organise important meetings in co-ordination with other departments to highlight different schemes.

8) Citizens Interaction:

Collecting information from the public and opinion makers by way of discussion.
