Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties
[Section-4 (1) (b) (I)]
1. About the college:
Rourkela College, Rourkela, located at Sector-4 in the heart of the Rourkela Steel Township and affiliated to Sambalpur University, is the second largest Govt. College in the district of Sundargarh, Odisha, providing quality education in Arts and Commerce with honours teaching facility. The college which began in the year 1966 in the name Rourkela Night College and subsequently renamed as Rourkela.
2. Our Future Plans:
Evening College was taken over by the Govt. of Odisha in the year 1989 to function as Govt. Evening College, Rourkela. Subsequently the college Library Computerization & modernization of the was renamed as Rourkela College, Rourkela. Our college owes its origin from the noble efforts and initiative of Sri B.N. Mishra and late H.K. Ray, the generous Modernization of the Auditorium with sound & light system people of Rourkela and of course the Govt. of Odisha. Inspite of the separation of +2 and +3 colleges.
Improvement of the Play ground all over Odisha in the year 2001, the +2 branch here functions as Rourkela Junior College in the same building under one administration providing +2with the Rourkela& Commerce. Garden & Botanical Park in collaboration teaching in Arts Steel Plant. The college which started as a Night College has overcome the stress of Time and Space to become one of the most demanded Colleges of the district with student strength of 1800, catering to the need of the poor, backward, SC and ST students and thereby bringing them closer to the Mainstream.
3. The Crest:
The aims and Objectives of our College are expressed in its crest. The college shall try to instil beauty, purity Aand serenity into the students for the flowering of their personality like the lotus in the crest. They shall be trained to be like the candle which stands for aspiration and enlightenment. The book in the crest.
