1. History and Background of its Establishment:
The Raikia Tahasil is formed as per letter Notification No. DRC-11/08-33533/ R&DM Dt. 6th August 2008 of the Additional Secretary to Government, Revenue & Disaster Management Department by the Order of the Honorable Governor, Odihsa in exercise of the Powers Conferred by Sec 4 of the Odisha Revenue Administration (Units) Act, 1963, (Odisha Act 22 of 1963). As such the Tahasil Office, Raikia was Carved out of the erstwhile G. Udayagiri Tahasil having Jurisdiction over the Panchayat Samiti Limits of Raikia as per the aforementioned Govt. Notification. However, where as the Panchayat Samiti Limits of Raikia extends to 10 G.P.s, this Tahasil now functions having Jurisdiction over 08 G.P.s excluding the G.P.s of Mondakia & Petapanga.
