1. Aim and objectives of the Organization:

     The office of the Assistant Labour Officer, Karanjia deals with the provisions for enforcement of the payment of wages Ac, 1948, Inter State Migrant Workmen (E.S. & C.S.) Act, 1979, contract labour (R & A) Act, 1970, Child Labour (R.E. & C.S.) Act, 1996 Odisha Shops & Commercial establishment Act, 1956 and other Labour Welfare enactments within the jurisdiction of Sub-division of Karanjia.

2. Mission/ Vision:

    To implement the different provision of the Labor Laws in the Karanjia Sub-Division under redressal of the Laborer/Employees grievances.

3. Brief History and Background for its Establishment:

     The office of the Asst. Labour Officer, Karanjia functioning in private rented building and this building will be used till the construction of Govt. building is finished. After compilation of Building construction, the office will shifted from the private building.

  1. Duties of the Public Authority:

     The Asst. Labor Officer is declared as Inspector under different enactment of Labor Laws to implement the provisions of the Labor legislation. Besides dispose the complaint grievance of the Employees/workers arised act of dispute as relating to payment termination. Refusal of supplement and any other disciplinary procedure relating to dismissed of the Employment.

Besides the Factories as same as above, performs the duties as and when interested by the Govt..

Industrial Disputes Act, 1947

This act protects the equal payment of men and women workers wages at same condition of work and prevent discrimination an irrespective of sex against Male and Female employees

Contract Labour (R& A) Act,1970

This act prohit the and regulates the engagement of contract labors in certain establishment and circumstances.

Motor Transport Act, 1961

This act provides Welfare of the workers engaged in Transport services and regulations the condition of their services.

Payment of Bonus Act, 1965

This act provides provisions of payment of bonus to the certain employees of the establishment on the basis of profit and production or the matters  related there of.

Building & Other Constructions Workers (RE & CS) Act, 1996

This is move enactment for the welfare of the building and other construction workers providing safety, health and welfare measures to do safe-guard their social economics conditions of the workers.

Building & Other Constructions workers Welfare Cess Act, 1996

The act provides for collection of cess from the estimated value of the construction with a view to incurred the expanses of welfare measures to the construction workers by the Odisha building and other construction workers welfare Board
