Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]

1. Aims & Objectives of the Organization:

    For Successful implementation of Rural Development Programmes. D.R.D.A. is the nodal Agency that implements the various programmes launched by Govt. in the Distric. Planning and implementation of the programmes is taken up in coordination with Blocks, Banks, Grampanchyats, line departments.

2. Mission/ Vision:

     To involve the Panchayati Raj Institution Representatives in Development of the District. The Vision of the DRDA and Zilla Parishad is Coordinated alround development of Rural area and upliftment of the standard of livings of the people.

3. Brief History and Background for its Establishment:

     The Agency has started functioning as DROUGHT PRONE AREA PROGRAMME: AGhlMCY in this district covering 14 blocks (excepting Boudh Block) out of 15 blocks of erstwhile Boudh Kandhamal District w.e.f. 17-05-1975 with its headquarters at Phulbani and was registered under Societies Registration Act. ,1860 vide Regn. No. 8056/73-74 dated 11-10-1974. Subsequently, Integrated Rural Development Programme was tagged to this Agency which extended to only 8 blocks namely Khajuripada, Harabhanga, Tikaballi, Chakapada, G.Udayagiri, Tumudibandh, and Kotagarh Blocks at first stage and thereafter the other 7 blocks too came under the I.R.D.P. fold. A new office emerged into being under the name and style "District Rural Development Agency, Phulbani" w.e.f. 02-10-1980. At present the operational jurisdiction of the D.R.D.A. extends over 12 blocks of Kandhamal district consequent on bifurcation of Boudh-Kandhamal district w.e.f. 01-01-1994.

4. Duties to be performed to the Achieve the Mission:

     Implementation of all types of Rural Development Schemes of Govt. of India as well as State Government.

5. Details of Services Rendered:

Supervision of Blocks and G.Ps in implementation of the Schemes.

6. Citizens Interaction:

     All Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) Representatives and people in general are involved in the development process through transparent implementation of programmes.
