Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]

1. Objective/ Purpose of the Public Authority:

To act as the middle tier in established 3 tier PRIs as institutions of self government.

2. Mission Vision

     To enable PRI to Plan and Implement the Schemes for Economic Development of The Poverty Stricken People Living in Block To ensure through PRIs the prosperity and quality life in its territory.

3. Brief History of the Authority and Contents of its Formation

     Komna Block has started functioning as pre extension stage from 24.01.1961 to 30.9.1962 This Block entered in to CD Stage -I from 1.10.1962 to 30.6.1972 and CD Stage -II from 1.7.1972 and TD Stage -I is continuing from 1.4.1970 out of block in the Dist of Nuapada this book is located centrally and stretched over an area of 651.774 Sq. Km covering 27 G.Ps and 157 Revenue Villages The Total Population of the Block is 1,17,028 as per 2001 census out of which SC Population of the Block is 15,990 ST Population is 51,362 and others population is 49,676.

4. Duties of the Public Authority

     To monitor the utilization of funds received by it and by the Gram Panchayat to carry out development works and poverty amelioration programme

5. Main Activities and Functions of the Public Authority

     To monitor the functioning of Gram Panchayat within the framework of powers and authorities entrusted in a 3 tier PRIs system.To supervise and monitor the utilization of funds received by the Gram Panchayats for implementation of wage employment and self employment programme and to utilize the funds received by it for such programme.
