1. Aim & Objective of the Organization:

     For smooth functioning of District Police Establishment over all maintaining of crime and criminals, Law and Order, intelligence matter, public grievance & Welfare of Police Force and Administrative Control over District Police Administration.

2. Brief History of back ground for its Establishment:

     This Police District is functioning with 28 Police Stations having district police Head quarter at Puri. Now 28 Police Station are functioning in this district for better policing and control over the Crime & criminals, Industrial Law and Order problem and other day to day problems.

3. Basic Information:

     District Police Headquarters, Puri. Sub-Divisional Police Head quarters, Nimapara, Pipli & Sadar SDPO office & DSP.City Office,Puri. this offices are functioniing in this dist. :

Duties

Head of the over all Administrative control over District Police, look into the crime & criminals. Supervision of important cases, Monitoring of Reserve Police Office work, Parade and Arms and Ammunitions. Look into and all the Law and order problems. Disposal of important daks and also supervised the Nabakalebar Police arrangement and attended all important meeting regarding Nabakalebar.

Duties

He shall supervise the functioning of following Sections of DPO, Puri.

  1. Establishment Section.
  2. DCRB Section.
  3. R. Section.
  4. Crime Section.
  5. DHRPC Section.
  6. Accounts Sections.
  1.  He shall remain in charge of all the above noted sections.
  2. He shall peruse attendance Registers of all sections of DPO, Puri.
  3. He shall assist S.P. Puri in the working of building Section.
  4. He shall check pending list of Establishment Section.
  5. He shall process routine correspondence with different offices and also ensure timely submission of all returns.
  6. He shall inspect the Police Posts allotted to him by the S.P. Puri as per advance Annual Inspection Programme.
  7. All important developments relating to these sections including important Circulars, Orders & Proposals should be perused by him.
  8. He shall check the Forms and Stationery Registers quarterly and furnish necessary certificate.
  9. He shall supervise the cases entrusted to him by S.P. Puri.
  10. He shall conduct Departmental proceeding enquiry entrusted to him by S.P.
  11. He shall act as Nodal Officer on Coastal Security.
  12. He will assist the S.P. in the matter of appointment.
  13. He shall assume full responsibility of S.R. Section. In all S.R. cases he will ensure through investigation, submission of progress reports, scrutinizing the case records, peruse the Case diaries, Supervision notes and process for orders for submission of Final Forms by the I.Os and also submission of PRs till disposal of the cases in the court.
  14. He shall peruse the supervision note of DSsP/Inspectors and shall issue his comments to them for compliance.
  15. He shall take steps to get list of sessions cases which are posted for trial in the forthcoming month and ensure that all prosecution witnesses are called to the Headquarters 01 or 02 days prior to the commencement of trial for testing evidence. A note to this effect should be left in each session cases pending for trial.
  16. He shall look after the functioning of Accounts Section, DPO, Puri.
  17. He shall also look into the Audit Section personally.
  18. He shall ensure timely submission of enquiry report in NHRC, OHRPC, CM’s grievance petitions, Higher-quarters, Government etc.
  19. He shall also peruse the JERs/Enquiry reports received from different Police Posts of the District.
  20. He shall perform duty as and when entrusted to him by the S.P. Puri.

  1. He shall supervise the duties of Temple related law and order, security, Sevayat matters and all matter related with temple, festivals etc.
  2. He will remain in charge of Law and Order duties of the District.

  2. He shall conduct department proceeding enquiry entrusted to him by the S.P.
  3. He shall supervise all the law and order related matters.
  4. He shall grant leave and increment of Havaildars, Constables, F.Os. and Menials under intimation to S.P.
  5. He shall peruse pending proceedings and issue suitable instructions to the conducting officers.
  6. He shall assist S.P. in implementation of training programme of Constables,
  7. proper running of Police Welfare Centre including Grain Store and Canteen.
  8. He shall conduct verification of stock, store & A.L. .
  9. He shall look to the work of R.I. regarding Charge of Station Guard and Striking Force in time on rotation.
  10. He shall inspect the Police Posts allotted to him by the S.P. as per advance Annual Inspection Programme.
  11. He shall perform duty as the when entrusted to him by the S.P. Puri.

  3. He shall be  in overall supervision of the Nodal Cell functioning in the Crime Section to deal with OJC cases of High Court and all matters relating to Superme Court, National Human Rights Commission, SC/ST Commission and Women Commision or quasi Judicial authorities.
  4. He should mointor timely attendance of Court by various IOs.
  5. He shall peruse the judgements in various cases and bring reasons of acquittal as well as cases of good convictions to the notice of S.P. for futher follow  up action. 
  6. He will also perform any other duty assigned to him by S.P. Puri
  7. He shall act as  Nodal Officer relating to CCTNS Project.
