Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties
[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]
1. Objective/ Purpose of the Public Authority:
To act as the middle tier in established 3 tier PRIs as institutions of self government.
2. Mission/ Vision:
To enable PRI to Plan and Implement the Schemes for Economic Development of The Poverty Striken people living in Block.
To ensure through PRIs the prosperity and quality life in its territory.
3. Brief History of the Authority and Contents of its Formation:
Papadahandi Block has started functioning as per extension stage from 01-04-1958 and entered into its post stage -II phase. This Panchayat Samiti comprises of 22 Gram Panchayats covering 89 revenue village over and area of 475.32 Sqr Km. As per 2001 Census the total population of this Block is 1,11,057 out of which 11, 203 are SC; 63910 are ST and remaining 35,994 are others.
As per PRI Election-2007 the Chairman and Vice-Chairman elected as follows:

4. Duties of the Public Authority:
To monitor the utilization of funds received by it and by the gram panchayats to carry out development works and poverty amelioration programme.
5. Main Activities and Functions of the Public Authority:
To monitor the functioning of gram panchayat within the framework of powers and authorities entrusted in a 3 tier PRIs system.
To supervise and monitor the utilization of funds received by the gram panchayats for implementation of wage employment and self employment programme and to utilize the funds received by it for such programme.
