Aims & Objectives of the Organization

     To look after the health, sanitation, water supply, roads, safety and public convenience of the citizen of the urban inhabitants. This includes improvement and up-gradation of the socio-economical status of the Urban Poor's.

Mission/ Vision

     Local Self Government under the statute consisting of the local people as representatives to the Council for carrying out the functions as provided under the Odisha Municipal Act/Rules, for the public health, safety and convenience of the citizens of the town.

Brief History & Background for its Establishment

    The N.A.C., has been functioning eith effect from 1972 in accordance with urban development notification no 15629 dt 19/7/1971. This NAC covers only Khariar town within the area 6.8sq km. The boundary of the NAC area is as followes.

     The N.A.C. comprises of 13 Wards having population 13402 as per 2001 census. The present Council took over the charge on 30.09.2008 handed over Sri Mahamad Yasin, Chairperson and Smt. Snahalata Bag, Vice-Chairperson and other 11 elected Councilors

Organisation Chart

   The Khariar NAC is the head of the department as per rule 428 of Odisha municipal rule 1953. The chair person is the head of the department. The Executive Officer is the Controlling Officer. The following sections work under this N.A.C.

  1. General Office Establishment including bills and budget headed by a Head Assistant.
  2. Public Works section:- The Municipal Engineer heads this section comprising one Junior Engineer and One Amin.
  3. Tax Section: - The Revenue clerk post is sanction and assisted 8 no of tax collector and peon.
  4. Sanitation: The zamadar is supervision the sanitation work for 5 words and other 8 words has been done by the NGOs as per instruction by the Govt. Housing and Urban Development Department from solid west management (TFC).

Duties to Be Performed to Achieve the Mission

   As per the provisions of Odisha Municipal Act 1950 and Odisha Municipal Rules-1953.

Details of Services Rendered

   Sanitation, street lighting, water supply, providing roads, drains, culvert,  Bathing Ghat as well as removal of Mosquito through MLO, phenyl and used in fogging machine

Citizens Interaction

   By organizing awareness meeting on L.S.G.Day and other occasion in the interaction is usually made.
