The Forests training institute is situated at G.Udayagiri in Kandhamal District with majestic beauty of available number of forestry trees of the deciduous forests of Eastern Ghat Hills. This institution has a good climate condition for the trainees to impart physical and class room training on various forestry resources. This institution is an old institution giving training to number of front line staffs i.e. Foresters & Forest Guards.
During this financial year refresher training was imparted by the forestry experts in various field with practical field training in different forests blocks of Phulbani & Balliguda Forest Division of Kandhamal district. Also the trainees have gathered practical training in forests of Khurdha, Puri, Kendrapada, Ganjam districts by refresher practical training course for the 159nos frontline staffs in 06 different sessions. This old Forestry Institution will generate good Foresters in future by the co-operation of the Instructors and office staffs of the institution.
Objective:
This institution was created in the year 1982. Due to its situation in a higher altitude, this institution provides a suitable climate throughout the year for imparting class room training. Also it is surrounded by number of hilly areas of Kandhamal District comprising part of Eastern Ghat Hills. Hence, it provides all type of practical training in the local forest areas to the undergoing sub-ordinate forest staffs in this area. Also this institution is situated in the central part of the southern Odisha, which facilitates to the staffs attending training in this institution from the Southern, Central & South westerns Divisions of the state. Good communication facility is there for reaching this institution and having all type Bus facilities to the above Division. It has rail link from Berhampur, which is 125kms away from this institution, communication to the Head office at Bhubaneswar is available Bus round the clock at a distance of 220kms.
Infrastructure:
Primarily, this institution is functioning in the existing building of the Ex-Balliguda Forest Division. Subsequently, no further facilities were provided as per the changing pattern of training imparted in the present time. There was one A.C sheet class room for the training classes with one AC sheet Chief Instructor residence and 05nos old staff quarters of the Ex-Balliguda Forest Division were utilized for the residential accommodation of the ACFs, R.Os & Dy.R.Os. 07nos A.C sheet staff quarters were available, which are used for the accommodation of Mess Staff, Bus Driver, Bus Helper & other staffs. The old A.C sheet Division office is utilized for the class room of trainees. Water facility is very miserable. Now, it is required to be modified. The staff Quarters are needed for its modification or renovation.
However after the up-gradation of the infrastructure of the institution, one Administrative Building, One office room for Dy.C.F & staffs with one new Hostel building having 15nos rooms for accommodation of 60nos lady trainees with one Dinning & common room was constructed newly. There are 01no ACF quarter, 02nos Forester quarter, 03nos Forest Guard quarter were constructed for the accommodation of ACF, Forester & 03nos of Forest Guards from CAMPA–APO- 2012- 13. During the year financial year 2019-20 to 2023-24, allotment was released for construction of 02nos class room building, 02nos R.O Residence, Renovation and up-gradation of 02nos R.O quarter for accommodation of instructors and trainees during refresher course and the old A.C sheet Hostel Building was renovated & up-graded. Repair of roads inside the F.T.S, Campus with paver block from main gate to Hostel building & Main gate to DCF’s office. One dinning is functioning in a building constructed subsequently. This needs to be expanded with its renovation for kitchen and dining with furnitures. Therefore, this institution needs further development of infrastructure for the accommodation of officers & ministerial staff of this institution as detailed below.
