Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]

1. Objective/ Purpose of the Public Authority:

   The objective of this organization is attaining all round development of rural areas and rural poors. During the course of execution of various Development programmes, Anti Poverty programmes, sustained income generation, providing wage employment to the people. It has gone a long way in creating new dimension for Rural Infrastructure Development and Poverty alleviation. In addition the organization aims at social security, food security and equitable distribution of wealth and income among the rural people.

2. Mission/ Vision

a) To enable PRI to Plan and Implement the Schemes for Economic Development of the  poverty stricken people living in Block.

b)To ensure through PRIs the prosperity and quality life in its territory.

3. Brief History of the Authority and Contents of its Formation:

   This Organization Panchayat Samiti, Lathikata started functioning from the year since 14th August 1965 and enter into stage-II with effect from 1st April 1974.

   This Block is consisting of 16 GPs and 91 revenue villages having a Population as per 2001 census.

4. Duties of the Public Authority:

   To Monitor the utilization of funds received by it and by the Gram Panchayats to carry out development works and poverty amelioration programme.

5. Main Activities and Functions of the Public Authority:

a) To monitor the functioning of gram panchayats within the framework of powers and authorities entrusted in a 3 tier PRIs system.

b) To supervise and monitor the utilization of funds received by the gram panchayats for implementation of wage employment and self employment programme and to utilize the funds received by it for such programme.
