Imparting Medical Education to the MBBS& Paramedical students andConducting medical research.

3. Brief History of the public authority and context of its formation:

The College was started by the Government of Odisha, Health & Family Welfare Department in collaboration with the Government of India with an aim to improve the doctor population ratio by utilizing the District Head Quarter Hospital as the teaching hospital. The College campus spreads over an sprawling area of 21.02 Acres at the base of the Gandhamardhana Hills. The teaching hospital spreads over an area of 12 Acres and is situated in the main town of Balangir roughly 5 Kms away from the College campus.Inaugurated by Sri Naveen Patnaik, Hon,ble Chief Minister of Odisha on 31.08.2018 and started functioning duly recognized by the Medical Council of India, New Delhi and affiliated to the Sambalpur University. The present intake capacity of MBBS seats is 100 with 15 AIQ seats. The College started functioning with its first batch of students got admitted to 2018 – 19 session. Besides there are 60 DMLT &30 DMRT seats having 2 years Course duration and 3 months Apprenticeship started in 2018 – 19 session.

The Rules, Codes, Acts,, Instructions, Govt. Orders, Memorandums, , Resolutions, Notifications etc of Govt of Odisha issued from time to time as well as from University authorities and Medical Council of India .Decisions are being taken as per the Govt. Rules of Business and Standing Orders issued from time to time and other executive instructions etc. The decisions are being taken as per suggestions in the proceeding of different Internal Boards, Committee, and Councils of this Medical College.

As above.
