Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (I)]

1. Brief History and Background of the Establishment

Maniabandha Degree College was established on 28th Sept.1994. The people of this locality contributed a lot for establishing this institution. It comes under Baramba Block of Cuttack District It is situated by the SH No.65 connecting  Cuttack to Narasinghpur and only 2 km. from the historic heritage village Maniabandha. First it started functioning in the Maniabandha High School. Later in 1996 it shifted to its own building. This institution was established to impart higher education among the youth of this locality and to ignite their mind. To fulfill the dream of establishing an educational institutionin the locality, the help of the then MLA Athagarh Sj. Ranendra Pratap Swain is note worthy. Subsequently MLA Baramba Sj. Debi Prasad Mishra helped a lot in the development of this institution.

The College got concurrence and affiliation for 64 seats in Arts stream in 1994. It also got permanent recognition in the year 2004 and affiliation  in 2007  for 64 seats . In the year 2009 Honours in Political Science and Education as opened with 16 seats each. In 2011 the number of seats was increased from 64 to 128 and received permanent recognition in the year 2012.

At first it started with 5 number of teaching faculty and 4 non teaching staff.It came under the Block grant fold in the year 2008. At present it is functioning with 8 teaching staff and 3 non-teaching staff. It has also two NSS wings for boys and girls. The College has received  UGC affiliation 2f and 12B in 04.09.2012. Each year more than 350 students are getting education in this institution.

This is a Non-Govt. College and the Principal of the College takes decisions in various matters having discussions with different Committees like Admission, Examination, Purchase, Construction, Financial aid etc. As per the Govt. Rules/University Rules/ UGC Guidelines.

Norms for Discharge of Functions

Any letter, public application, proposal received from Government public individual, students, staff members are being entered in the Diary register and referred to concerned sections , officers in charge , committees for Examinations and submission of the compliance in the related files. The files duly routed   through the different officers in charge, Bursars/ heads of the concerned departments are put up before the principal for approval/sanction after which being dispatched with number and date.
