Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. Brief History of the Public Authority:
Government College of Physical Education, Sambalpur, Kulundi was established in the year 1993. Initially it imparted B.P.Ed. Course of one year. Thereafter in the year 2015 the college was upgraded as per N.C.T.E new regulation 2014 B.P.Ed. Course became two years of 4th semester. Now the College is having the capacity of 100 students (so intake in each year) of B.P.ED course. The College is affiliated to Sambalpur University and recognised by (N.C.T .E) New Delhi and also to University Grants Commission [(U/S 2(f) and 12(B) of the U.G.C act. 1956.
The pass-outs of the College are appointed in schools Colleges. Universities in all over the Country as Physical Education teacher / instructor/Lecturer/Director. They are required in different departments like Railway, Police, Army and various companies as player /organiser /trainer etc.

Staff and Master degree students of the College are carrying out research programmes on Physical Education & Sports Science for their fulfilment of games, sports, health, aspects and recreation through the research studies.

This Teacher training college imparts B.P.Ed. Course of 2 years duration. B.P.Ed. The eligibility for B.P.Ed course is as per the N.C.T.E. (National Council of Teacher Education) norms and the eligibility for B.P.ED course is minimum 45% marks in graduation level for General & OBC category. The eligibility for B.P.ED course is minimum 40% marks in graduation label for SC,ST Students. Age limit for B.P.Ed. Course is 20 to 28years.5 years relaxation for SC, ST students.
Intake Capacity:
50 seats are available for B.P.Ed Course of one year each having 2 years durations.

Result
The result of this veteran college of the state has all along been very good. As the courses are practical oriented and students undergo vigorous physical activities under able guidance of the experienced staff of the college, they perform well in practical part The Internal examination pattern of the college has also enabled them to secure good makes in theory examinations. Thus the students are able to get good qualitative results than other institutions in the same field.
Journal
The college brings out a journal named "Creative Physical Education" which is rich with articles relating with the profession. Besides, Journals of Sports & Sports Sciences, Vyayam Vidnyan, Yoga : the Science, International Journal of fitness, Health and Nutrition, Research Biannual are also available for the Research Scholars of the college. Magazines on sports & Physical Education are also available for the students and Research Scholars.
Campus (Camp, Excursion)
Camping in the part & parcel of curriculum of the courses by this college. Usually three days camping programme is organized outside the college in the lap of nature. The students get rich experience of outdoor living through organized activities under the able guidance of the experienced staff members.
Besides excursion programmes are also arranged for cite seeing and by visiting places of some importance. Every year this college is conducting Inter house competitions, practice teaching classes and extramural competitions in a successful manner.
