Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties
[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]
1. Brief History of the Public Authority:
Government College of Physical Education, Bhubaneswar was established in the year 1957. Initially it imparted C.P.Ed. Course. Thereafter the Status of the college was upgraded and it started B.P.Ed. Course from 1980 and M.P.Ed. Course from 1985. Now the college is imparting B.P.Ed. (100 seats) and M.P.Ed. 40 (seats) courses of two years duration. The pattern of examination is semester system from the year 2016.
The college is affiliated to Utkal University and recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (N.C.T.E.), New Delhi and by University Grants Commission [u/s 2 (f) and 12 (B) of the UGC Act. 1956)]
The pas-outs of the college get jobs in Schools, Colleges, Universities as Physical Education Teachers/Instructors. They also get jobs in Police Department and Army by virtue of their fitness.
