Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]

1. History of the Public Authority:

   The Central Range is one of the integral part of the Odisha Police and this is one of the largest Police Range of our Country. It is headed by I.G. of Police, Central Range, Cuttack. This Range comprising of seven important Districts of the State. They are Cuttack, Puri, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh and Khordha. All the seven Districts are working under the supervision of I.G. of Police, Central Range, Cuttack. The jurisdiction of the Central Range has been fixed by the Govt.

2. Allocation of Business:

   Director General & Inspector General of Police is the overall head of the Range. I.G.P. supervised the work and activities and all the Districts Ss.P and take a stock of the Law and Situation, Criminal Activities, Naxalites problems and Maoist Activities and briefing the officers about rendering security to the VVIPS during their visits and maintenance of Law and Order during celebration of festivals like Rath Yatra at Puri and Laxmi Puja at Kendrapara etc. I.G.P. inspects all the Police Stations, SDPO offices and DPO at the regular interval for Polished Administration.

3. Details of Services Rendered:

   Any public person can appear in grievance before the I.G.P. on any working day during the Office hour. The petition received from the petitioner is sent to concerned Ss.P for prompt enquiry and submit report for necessary redressal. Recently a public contact system has been introduced for gating the report from the enquiring officer so as to apprise the petitioner about the follow-up action taken on their complaints.

Duties

To Attend to all Correspondences, Relating to the Administration of the Districts of the Range and place papers before the I.G. for orders and take action accordingly

There are Six Sections are Functioning in the Range Office:

   General Section is one of the important sections of the Range Office, which is dealing with the Proceedings of the Officers up to the Rank of S.I., Transfer and Postings of the Police Personnel up to the Rank of Inspector. Besides that, All the Promotional Matters up the Rank of Addl. S.P, Creation of Police Stations, Out­posts, Training of IPS Officers of this Range, Premature Board, Construction and Renovation of Range District Buildings.

   Accounts Section is dealing with ail the Accounts matter of the Range Office, Finalizing the Pension Cases of Senior Clerk, Junior Accounts and S.Is and DSIs of the Range Districts. Besides that, halt more than 10 days journey beyond the State and tour diary of tour particulars of all Ss.P, of this Range and MSWs of the all the Inspector of Central Range are maintaining here.

   Issue Section is dealing with all the type works of this Office and also dealing with Inspection of IGP, Ss.P. and M.V. statement of all the Seven Districts of the Range Office.

   Crime Section is one of the important sections of the Range Office. It supervisees' the Investigation Supervision and other Crime Matters of their Districts and Issues Guide lines for the same.

   Confidential Section is one of the Vital Sections of the Central Range. It Supervises the Force Movement, WIP visits and all the Important Functioning events of the Range Districts. Besides that, all the Confidential Matters of the Range are kept here.

   Establishment Section is dealing with all the Transfer and Posting of the Ministerial Officers of the Range and Dealing with the Training of Recruit Constables and OASIs. Besides that, all the Establishment Related Matters of the Range Office are maintained here.
