Introduction

Empowerment of Zilla Parishads by merger of functions and Office of District Rural Development Agencies (DRDAs) with Zilla Parishads and abolition of DRDAs in the State of Odisha vide Resolution No. 10025-PR-DRDA-MISC-0049-2014/P.R. & D.W. Dt. 03.06.2022 in Extraordinary Issue of the Odisha Gazette.

 

           PRIs being institutions of self Governance must be empowered enough and be directly involved in implementation, monitoring and supevision of various development schemes  as well as execution of different public decisions of the State Government. Zilla Parishad is the apex tier of Panchayati Raj System at District level and needs to be entrusted with all the functions of DRDAs in order to enable it to plan and implement the schems for proverty-allevation, overlall economic development and social justice.

Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]

1. Aims & Objectives of the Organization:

The Aim of the Organization is successful implementation of Rural Development Programmes in Jharsuguda District.

2. Mission/ Vision:

   The Mission of Zilla Parishad is to be involved the Panchayati Raj Institution Representatives in Development of the District. The Vision of the Zilla Parishad is Coordinated Development of the Rural Area to come up to the standard of urban living status.  

3. Brief History and Background for its Establishment:

        Empowerment of Zilla Parishads by merger of functions and Office of District Rural Development Agencies (DRDAs) with Zilla Parishads and abolition of DRDAs in the State of Odisha vide Resolution No. 10025-PR-DRDA-MISC-0049-2014/P.R. & D.W.    Implementation of all types of Schems under Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department, Govt. of Odisha.

5. Details of Services Rendered:

Supervision of Blocks and G.Ps in implementation of the Schemes.

6. Citizens Interaction:

All Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) Representatives are involved.

Empowerment of Zilla Parishads by merger of functions and Office of District Rural Development Agencies (DRDAs) with Zilla Parishads and abolition of DRDAs in the State of Odisha vide Resolution No. 10025-PR-DRDA-MISC-0049-2014/P.R. & D.W. Dt. 03.06.2022 in Extraordinary Issue of the Odisha Gazette.

           PRIs being institutions of self Governance must be empowered enough and be directly involved in implementation, monitoring and supevision of various development schemes  as well as execution of different public decisions of the State Government. Zilla Parishad is the apex tier of Panchayati Raj System at District level and needs to be entrusted with all the functions of ZPs in order to enable it to plan and implement the schems for proverty-allevation, overlall economic development and social justice.
