Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]

1.Objective/purpose of the public authority:

The primary objective of this office is to promote regional tourism and facilitate the development of tourism infrastructure.

 

2.Mission / Vision statement of the public authority:

The mission is to ensure the sustainable development of tourism projects, fostering ecological balance and safety, security, sanitation of popular tourist destinations.

 

3.Brief history of the public authority and context of its formation:

Established by the department of tourism, government of Odisha, to serve as a dedicated administrative unit for fostering tourism at the district level. It also functions as the tourism section of the collectorate, Balasore.

 

4.Duties of the public authority:

To provide comprehensive tourist information, coordinate with district administration for infrastructure development, participate in promotional events, and ensure visitor safety and satisfaction.

 

5.Main activities/ functions of the public authority:

Operating the tourism information center, distributing official tourism literature and brochures, managing and supervising state-run panthanivas properties in Nilgiri, Chandipur, Chandaneswar and Balasore, Coolecting and compiling tourism statistics. Organizing local awareness programs to promote tourism.

Public Information: Providing assistance and information to tourist about destinations, accommodations, and transport etc.

RTI Processing: Handling applications filed under the Right to Information Act, 2005

Standard office hours are from 10.00AM to 5.30PM on government working days. These timings are subject to change based on government directives. For instance, during summer, hours may be rescheduled to 7.00AM to 1.00PM.

e) To conduct the survey work for identification of new destination.
f) Any other tourism related activities as assigned by State tourism Department or Tourist Office, Balasore time to time.

b) To coordinate with Treasury Office.

e) Establishment work of the staff like put-up file before Tourist Officer regarding sanction of leaves, sanction of advances, sanction of tour particulars,  sanction of increments, personal files and service book etc.

Procedure Followed in Decision Making Process

[Section-4 (1) (b) (iii)]

1.What is the procedure followed to take a decision for various matters?

The procedure follows a hierarchical channel. Files are initiated by the Dealing Assistant submitted to

the tourism office for operational decisions. For major policy, financial, administrative matters, the

file is forwarded to the Collector, Balasore, through the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) for final

approval.
