Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]  

1. Aims & Objectives of the Organization:

    Regional Transport Office Jagatsinghpur has a major role in the management of road transport activities including, observance of road safety parameters of citizens in the district in a co-ordinated way, along with managing the movement of different type of vehicles and safeguarding the Govt. revenue and delivering road transport related services to the citizens in right time.

2. Mission/ Vision:

   Hasslefree movement with zero casualities of the road users within this district.

3. History & Background of Its Establishment:

  Regional Transport office, Jagatsinghpur started functioning w.e.f. 17.06.2002 at Charchika Bazar, Jagatsinghpur on rented building. Now it is fuctioning in its own building since 25.08.2017. Regional Transport Office functions under guidance of the Transport Commissioner STA, Odisha and Commerce & Transport (Transport) Department, Government of Odisha.

5. Duties Performed:

   Collector & Disrtrict Magistrate is the Chairman of the RTA Jagatsinghpur. Regional Transport Officer is the head of the office assisted by MVI, Asst. MVI, Jr MVI and TI. All ministerial staffs of the office performs the tasks assigned to them and the combined efforts of all results in achieving the Mission.

6. Details of Services Rendered:

Registration of Motor Vehicles, Issue of Permit, Fitness, Issue & Renewal of DL, Transfer of ownership of vehicles, HPA/ HPT, Issue & Renewal of Trade Certificate, Issue Common Carriage Permit, Issue license to Private Driving Training Schools.

The office is situated on Jagatsinghpur-Jaipur road which is 7.5 k.m away from the Colletorate office Jagatsinghpur.

9. Public interaction if any:

Public queries are dealt with very courteously by the staff and officials as it is a public office. An Information Kiosk machine is installed for convenience of public which provides information regarding our services, fees, steps involved in it and their application status. A active Help-Desk is running in working hours on all working days to guide and help public.

10. Grievance Redressal Mechanism:

   A responsive grievance redressal mechanism is being adopted and cases are disposed of accordingly.

11. Working Hours Both for Office & Public:

Working Hours- 10:00 AM - 5:30 PM on all working days.
