Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties
[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]
Odisha Home Guards organization is a voluntary organization both in character and concept. It is governed as per guide lines and instructions contained in Odisha Home Guards, Act 1961 and Home Guards Rules 1962 and compendium of instructions of Home Guards published by Govt. of India in M.H.A, New Delhi. Commandant General, Home Guards acts as a head of office and control 34 dist. Home Guards organizations of the State.
Presently the organization is running with 16608 Home Guards and 309 Paid Staff.
Home Guards are auxiliary to State Police and are rendering valuable service to the society. Services of Home Guards have been appreciated both by public and press during various natural and manmade disasters.
The motto of organization is "Niskam Seva".
