Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)] 

1. Aims & Objectives of the Organization:

   To look after the health, sanitation, water supply, roads, safety and public convenience of the citizen of the urban inhabitants. This includes improvement and up-gradation of the socio-economical status of the Urban Poor's.

2. Mission/Vision:

   Local Self Government under the statute consisting of the local people as representatives to the Council for carrying out the functions as provided under the Odisha Municipal Act/Rules, for the public health, safety and convenience of the citizens of the town.

 

3. History & Background for its Establishment:

    The Joda Municipality, popularly known as 'Valley City' came into being in the shape of NAC during the year 1961, subsequently converted to Municipality on dt 12-02-1993 Vide Govt. in Housing & Urban Development Department Notified No.5287/HUD Dt12-02-1993.

5. Objective:
 
    The Main objective of this institution is to cater the minimum basic civic amenities and service to the citizens like Street Lighting, Piped water supply, Sanitation, Education, Health Services implementation of poverty alleviation programme, Slum improvement, provision, provision recreational facilities, employment generation activities, awareness, campaign against social evils, welfare activities in the line of central and State Govt. promulgation.

6. Area:

  The Municipal area covers 26.4 Sq.kms comprising 14 (fourteen) Number of Wards within 6(six) Revenue Village as Under.

  1. Baneikala
  2. Joda
  3. Kamarjoda
  4. Khuntpani
  5. Banspani
  6. Bichhakundi

The area is bounded by:

  1. North- Thakurani Forest (Khesra Forest beyond Remuli Barbil, NH-215.
  2. East-Boundary of village Daduan & Mutuda.
  3. South - Village Jalahari, Bamebari (Jungle on either side) Bholabeda & river Baitarini.
  4. West- Village Boundary of Roida and Kalaha Roida.

7. Population:

    As per 2011 Census , The Population of Joda Town is 46,681 out of which Male Population is 23,946 and Female Population is 22,735 as such the ration of Male, Female is 10.53

Grievance Redress Mechanism:

Khan Abdul Sabir, Tax and Fee Collector, Joda Municipality is the in charge of public grievance. A register has been maintained for compliance of the grievances.
