The college opened avenues for the +2 Science Stream in the year 1983, with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. Traditional B.A. was opened in the year 1985. With the introduction of the New Education Policy, +2 Arts and Science classes were opened in the year 1983. +3 Arts was opened in the year 1986 and +3 Science in the year 1989. Honours facilities in Arts, in subjects like History, Pol.Science, Oriya, Economics,Sociology and Education were made available in the year 1991. In Science, subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, Honours facilities were provided in the year 1993. The college further offered some new subject like Logic at +2 LEVEL, Statistics at +2 and +3 levels and Honours in English, Zoology an Botany. The college has already made the ground work, to introduce information Technology and Computer Science courses from the current session. As per the instructions of NAAC, the college has a Long Term plan to open some self-financing, professional and technical courses like Micro-Biology, Communicative English, Journalism, Pharmacy, Wet-soil Management and other UGC sponsored vocational courses.
The Students' strength of the College, at present approxmatels to 1660. Interestingly enough, the girl students out number their boys counter-parts in strength and merit. This is no mean an achievement in materializing our mission. With the growth and development of the College, there has been a correspondending increase in the faculty and the staff. The College, at present has 45 teaching and 30 non-Teaching staff members. Inspite of the ravages of Super Cyclone and High Floods, the College in proud enough to possess some massive structures from several sources like UGC Assistance, MP LAD, Students' Development Fee and governmental Aids. The College is also in the process of constructing a massive boundary wall around its 11.25 acres of land area.
The College has a well furnished library with 11751 number of text books, reference books, Journals, magazines and periodicals. It has also a book bank facility which caters for the needs of the students. This known as "PRAHLLAD MALLICK MEMORIAL LIBRARY" named in memory of late Sj. Prahallad mallick.
To develop employability and to meet a variety of interests and aptitudes of the youth , the College imparts vocational education in two trades namely Dairy Farming and inland Fisheries. As a response to it , students have been faring exceedingly well and uninterruptedly getting the "Best Awardee" certificates from the NCERT and the CHSE since its inception.
The College has four NSS units , two each for boys and girls at the graduation level. Apart from it, it has a Hostel for girls with an accommodation capacity of 76 boarders. Adjacent to it, another Hostel Building sanctioned by TRW Deptt. Of Govt. of India is now under construction. Two staff quarters, a Guest House(under construction) and a play ground are campused in the College. The college has opened a Health Centre and a Grievance Cell and it has also a proposal to open a GYM soon. Boy's Scout and Yoga Sikshya included from July'05.
As a developing institution, it is surging ahead to fulfill the dictates of future academic needs and will live upto the expectations of the rural masses.
4. The College Crest:
i) The college crest was designed an officially accepted in the year 1991. It comprises two concentric circles standing on a rectangular base. The ring within the two circles bears the imprint "Marshaghai Mahavidyalaya". At the base, the depiction "Satya Meba Jayate spreads the slogan "Truth alone Triumphs".
ii) The inner circle has six conspicuous symbols of which each has a voice on ventilate.
iii) The stem of Corn signifies green revolution for food sufficiency
iv) The lighted Lamp suggests the dissipation of darkness, fear and ignorance.
v) The open Book is a mark of scholarly pursuits and a herald of wisdom.
vi) The Disc Transmission Tower symbolizes ceaseless endeavour to promote scientific knowledge.
Vii) The planetary motion and satellite in the orbit stand for change adaptability.
Viii) And lastly, the Dove on its wings is the harbinger of eternal peace and brotherhood.
5. Duties to be performed to achieve the Mission:
To achieve the mission, our institution has created an excellent academic environment through class room teaching, Remedial teaching, performance of development academic related extra Curricular activities, such as Cultural function, Organization of athletics and sports, organization of National level and state level seminars, symposia and value based programmes.
