Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. Aim & Objectives of the Organisation:

     Talcher Munipality is function since the Darbar Administration. Its main aim is to provide better Sanitation, Health, Education, Street Light, Drinking Water Supply and other essential work to the general public and dealing with Election Census, B.P.L., Survey, Civil Supply work etc. of Govt. of Odisha.

2. Mission & Vision:

     The main Mission & Vision of Talcher Municipality to take immediate step to provide service when and where necessity for the interest of the General Public.

3. Brief History & Background for its Establishment:

     This Municipality is functioning since Darbar Administration. As per Govt. Notification No. 2662/ I.S.C dt.10.05.1954. it was converted to N.A.C. Subsequently it was declared as Municipality vide Urban Development Notification No. 5426/ U.D., dt.12.03.1969. This Notification was later on quashed by the Hon'ble High Court as per judgement dt.14.03.1974 in OJC Case No. 5/72 and accordingly it was again reconstitued and validated in Govt. Ordinance No.1 of 1976 vide Law Department Notification dt. 26.10.1976.

a. Area of the Muncipality =25.5 sq.km.
b. Population as per 2011 Census= 40,841 Nos.
c. Number of wards of the Municipality=21 (Twenty one)
d. Road Maintenance by the Municipality
i. Black Topping= 75.968 K.m.
ii. Metalled =19.505 K.m.
iii. Cement Concrete =36.958 k.m.
iv. Un Metalled= 36,606 km.
v. Earthen=51.496 km.
Total=215.030 km.

e. Drain System:

Pucca Drain: 32.52 km.
Katchha Drain=186.00 km.

Light Facilities in Talcher Muncipality Area:
Street Light Poles =1176

EESL company has provided the facility of light in Tacher Municipality

a. 35 watt bulb with fitting = 340 Nos.
70 watt bulb with fitting = 1251 Nos.
110 watt bulb Fitting = 719 Nos.

Total  = 2310 Nos.

Semi High Mast=17 Nos.

High Mast =06 Nos.

b. Water Facilities:

Stand Post=102 Nos.
Tube Well=132 Nos.
Open Well= 924 Nos.
Ponds=04 Nos.

f. Vital Statistics:

     The Birth & Death dealing with this Muncipaltiy every day. One V.S.Clerk attached with the Municipality to deal with the death and birth records.
Birth=1488 Nos. (as on 31.12.2019), Birth=222 Nos. (as on 31.01.2020)
Death= 299 Nos. (as on 31.12.2019), Death= 36 Nos. (as on 31.01.2020)
