The Zilla Parishad meeting is held quarterly which is presided over by the President. The discussions are held on the department under its control. The President Z.P is competent to sanction casual leave to the District level Officers under its control. Special meetings can also be held to discuss on the special issue. The Project Director, DRDA is the executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad and Collector is the Chief Executive Officer.

The President of the Z.P is the Chairman of the Governing Body of the DRDA. The meeting is held quarterly. Standing Committees have also been formed to advise the Z.P. the Z.P President is empowered to inspect of the current programmes / Yojana executed out of its funds.

The honorarium of the Z.P, President, Vice-President and members is as follows.

b. Acquitance Roll
c. Standing Committee Proceeding Register.

Consultation is made with the people through the ZP Member / MLAs / MPs of the District and Chairman of the Panchayat Samiti.

Standing Committees have been formed assigning different functions.

The Agencies of the Zilla Parishad are the Panchayat Samities and different Line Departments of the District.

2. Mission and vision:

It aims at alleviating poverty in the District by implementing several schemes by involving the people as well as PRIs members in the district,

3. Brief History and back ground for its establishment:

The District Rural Development Agency, Kalahandi has started functioning with effect from 1980. It is registered as DRDA,Kalahandi vide Regd. No Kld 71-15 of 1982-83 covering all the 18 Blocks of undivided Kalahandi District. After reorganization of Nuapada District 5 Blocks pertaining to Nuapada Sub-Division were separated from this Agency. So after the bifurcation the jurisdiction of this Agency comprises of 13 Blocks.
