1. Aim and Objectives of the Organistion:
The Jurisdiction of Mahanadi South Division extends from Chahata in Cuttack District to Chaumuhani at Paradeep of jagashingpur district Bounded by Mahanadi and Paika on left side and Kathajori and Hansua on right side. The following rivers are flowing under the jurisdiction of this Division. This Division is the oldest division in Odisha. It is giving services since 1988.
a. River Mahanadi from Chahata to Paradeep.
b. River Kathajori from Chahata to Kaijanga.
c. River Surua (Branch of Kathajori) from Cuttack to Kaijanga.
Besides this the Saline Embankment under the Jurisdiction of Erasama Embankment Sub-Division, Erasama, which has been transferred to this division in November-2004.
Embankment:
There are 123.560 Km. of river embankment in Cuttack District and 149.510 Km. river embankment, 209.65 Km. of Saline Embankment and 41.52 Km. of TR Embankment in Jagatsinghpur District. All these embankments are maintained by this Division.
