Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. Aims & Objectives of the Organisation:
To look after the health, sanitation, water supply, roads, safety and public convenience of the citizen of the urban inhabitants. This includes improvement and up-gradation of the socio-economical status of the Urban Poor's.
2. Mission/ Vision:
Local Self Government under the statute consisting of the local people as representatives to the Council for carrying out the functions as provided under the Odisha Municipal Act/ Rules, for the public health, safety and convenience of the citizens of the town.
3. History and Background for its Establishment:
Introduction: Redhakhol N.A.C has been newly constituted on 1.3.99 vide Govt. in Housing & Urban Development Department notification No. 7610/HUD dt. 26.2.99. After the merger of Rampur G.P. in full and Badabahal, Luhapank, Burda in part, there are 11 (eleven)wards having a total population of 13723 as per 2001 census, out of which 6,500 are female and 7,223 male. This N.A.C having a total area of 35.785sq K.m. is bounded by Kholgarh reserve forest to North, Hatidhara reserve forest to East, Palsanali village to South and Badamal Ratna Barbank to the West. 18 nos of revenue village have been included in this N.A.C.

As per Govt. in H & U.D. Deptt. Notification No. 38500/HUD dt. 13.10.99 an elected council has been constituted. Previously this NAC had divided in to 11 wards during the period of nominated council but subsequently the NAC has again been divided in to 13 wards. The ward wise reservation seats with the names of Councillors as detailed below are existing.
