Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. Objective of the Public Authority:

Smooth and effective management of the sunabeda wildlife division, Nuapada with transparency.

To provide information as per Act/ Rule framed under RTI Act, 2005.

2. Mission/ Vision Statement of the Public Authority:

To protect Forest, Environment & Wildlife.

3. Brief History of the Public Authority and context of its Formation:

The Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary is notified as per the Govt. Notification No.10772/FFAH dt. 10.05.1988 of the Government of Odisha, Forest, Environment & Climate Change Department.

Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the north-west corner of Nuapada district (Ex-Kalahandi), adjoining the interstate boundary between Odisha and Chhattisgarh and situated within 20⁰-24’-00” to 20⁰-44’-00” latitudes north of equator and 82⁰-20’-0” to 82⁰-34’-42” longitude east of Greenwich. The entire Sanctuary area is constituted of only one division that is Sunabeda Wildlife Division with headquarters at Nuapada and comes under Bhawanipatna Circle. The Division is constituted with three Ranges i.e. Komna Wildlife Range with headquarter at Komna, Nuapada Wildlife Range with headquarter at Nuapada and Sunabeda Wildlife Range headquarter at Sunabeda.

The total land area of the Sanctuary is 600 Sq. Km out of which 243.60 sq km comes under core and rest 356.40 sq km under buffer area notified vide notification No.10772/FFAH dt.10.05.1988 of the Government of Odisha, Forest and Environment Department. But after digitization of the Sanctuary on GIS format the actual area comes to 625.511 Sq.

4. Duties of the Public Authority:

To protect Flora & Fauna including Development works in Forestry & W.L.

5. List of Services being provided by the Public Authority with a Brief Write up on them:

As a Public Authority services are being provided for Protection of Flora & Fauna from harmful anthropogenic factors as well as forest fire, Compassionate payment for any animal depredation & Diversion proposal from user agency only in favour of public interest as per norms & provisions therein in the Van Sanrakshan Adhiniyam.

6. Mechanism available for Monitoring the Service Delivery and Public Grievance Resolution:

Grievance cell has been opened in this office as per guidelines of Govt. of Odisha.

8. Working Hours for both Office & Public:

a) Morning Hours: 10.00 AM (Except from 10^thApril to 15^th June)

7.00 AM to 1.00 PM from 10^th April to 15^th June without launch break.

b) Closing Hours: 5.30 PM
