1. Objective/ Purpose of the Public Authority:
Madhusudan Das Regional Academy of Financial Management (MDRAFM) is an Academy which has been established as a Directorate under the Department of Finance, Government of Odisha to Impart Training on Financial Management to Officers and Employees of different Cadres of State Government of Odisha, Officers of All India Service and sometimes for Officers of other State Governments.
2.Vision/Mission Statement of the Public AutAhority:
Vision - We, at “MDRAFM” ,are committed to achieve excellence in imparting quality training in Financial Management for the Optimum Capacity Building of Human Resource of State Government in order to strengthen the State Finance through practising Fiscal Prudence and Financial Propriety and ensure Institutional Effectiveness, Good Governance and Effective Public Service Delivery.

3. Brief History of the public Authority and context of its formation:
The Institute was first established in the year 1965 vide Finance Department Notification No.23428(28)-F dated 21st September, 1956 as Accounts Training School to impart training on Accounts and Finance to both Gazetted and Non-Gazetted employees of the State Government. It starts Functioning at Bhubaneswar in front of Odisha Secretariat besides I.G. Park having
Sri P.N. Rao as its first Principal who was brought on deputation From Audit Department of Government of India.
In the year 1982, to commemorate the service of Utkal Gaurav Madhusudan Das, a Renowned Lawyer, a Statesman, a Great Social Reformer and above all the undisputed Architect of Modern Odisha, the Training institute was renamed as the Madhusudan Institute of Accounts and Finance (M1AF). In the year 1990. the Academy was shifted to its present campus at Chandrasekharpur.
The name of the Academy was changed to Madhusudan Das Regional Academy of Financial Management on 6th November, 2002 with a view to make it a Resource Centre for Financial Administration in Eastern Region of the country. At present the Academy is Functioning as one of the Directorates under Finance Department vide Notification No.36304/F dt.01.09.2017.
4. Duties of the Public Authority:
To ensure Capacity Building of Human Resource of State Government by imparting Training on Public Financial Management, organising Seminars and Workshops on different areas of Public Finance for Officers and Employees of State Government and sometimes for central government/other state government officers in order to achieve fiscal prudence .
