Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties
[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]
1. Aims and Objectives of the Organization:
a. To provide holistic growth of the horticulture sector through an area based regionally differentiated strategies.
b. To enhance horticulture production, improve nutritional security and income support to farm households.
c. To create opportunities for employment generation for skill and unskilled persons, especially unemployed youths.
d. To increase the economic standard of the farmers.
2. Brief history and background for its establishment:
The Deputy Director of Horticulture office, Baripada was established at Takatpur of Baripada town in Mayurbhanj district in Government building. The D.D.H. office was consisted of the following staff:
(i) Deputy Director of Horticulture
(ii) Asst. Horticulture Officer
(iii) Assistant Agril. Engineer
(iv) Head Clerk
(v) Sr. Clerk
(vi) Jr. Clerk
(viii) Jeep Driver
(viii) Peon & Watcher
4. Allocation of business:
It is simply an extension organization and works for development of Horticulture in rural and semi urban areas.
5. Duties to be performed to achieve the mission:
No mission/ vision can be achieved without proper organizational planning, coordination and execution of the same at field level. That's why the departmental field functionaries have been doing their duties at field level. Farmers are being trained and sensitized by conducting training programme (NHM Plantation/ IPM/ INM, RKVY, NMMP Deptt. Work etc.) at block/ sub divisional level by departmental officers regarding latest technical know how, schemes under National Horticulture Mission with regular field visits from time to time followed by review of progress and achievement on departmental programmes.
6. Details Service rendered:
a. Attendant: Attached to farm at High Density Progeny Orchard, Hemchandrapur to take care of the plants and to produce quality planting materials.
b. Gardener/HEW(Horticulture Extension Worker/H.O(Horticulture Overseer):
i) Organize and mobilize farming communities
ii) Conduct demonstrations Arial's/ Minikits at various locations as per allotment
iii) Conduct village meetings to disseminate lab to land technology
iv) Create awareness on various schemes
v) Supply field information as and when required
c. Asst. Hort. Officer:
i) To conduct farmers meetings & trainings at Village level along with Gardeners/ Grafters/ F.Ts/ H.Os
ii) To execute all departmental programmes under different schemes at GP/ Village level through the concerned field staff.
iii) Attend Block level meetings as and when called for
iv) To ensure all kinds of report returns as and when asked for
d. A. H. O:
i) Preparation of reports & returns of the Range
ii) Monitoring & analysis of departmental trials/ Minikits/ demonstrations and trainings withcritical analysis.
e. Assistant Director of Horticulture:
i) Supervision, Monitoring, Establishment & Grievances matter and DDO of respective Horticulture circles
f. Deputy Director of Horticulture:
i) Overall in charge of Horticulture department in the Range/ District (Monitoring, supervision of all other Hort. Development in the District Establishment matter, Public Grievances etc.
ii) Assist. Agril. Engineer: Monitor and supervise of M.I. scheme and also responsible for Engineering works in different sub-ordinate office under D.D.H
