Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (I)]

1. Objective/ Purpose of the Public Authority:

The authority is not a public sector, it is department of the Government.

2. Brief History of the Public Authority and context of its formation:

     Office of the D.F.O, Bhadrak Wildlife Division, Chandbali is created on 1.10.200 and its head quarter was fixed at Bhadrak. Subsequently the Head Quarter has been shifted to Chandbali on 4.04.2006. The Bhadrak Wildlife Division, Chandbali has four Ranges, their head quarter at Bhadrak, Dhamanagar, Chandbali & Basudevpur respectively.

3. Duties of the Public Authority:

(i) Divisional Forest Officers (Wildlife Division):

     He will be responsible for protection of forests and wildlife within his Division and for the effective implementation of Forest and Wild Life Acts and Rules, within his Division. He will implement all other forestry programmers in his Division.

     He will function as the DDO for his Division and will be responsible for the proper utilization of budget allocations for his Division.

(ii) ACF in the Wildlife Division:

     The ACF in a WL Division will basically assist the DFO in habitat/ management as well as protection of forest resources including wildlife in the Division.

(iii) Range Officers in the Wildlife Range:

     Range Officers in the Wildlife Range will be responsible for the overall management of habitat and protection from depredation & poaching. He will create awareness for ecological preservation and promote Eco-Development activities. He will promote JFM outside the protected areas an also take up a forestation and forest extension activities in the range.

(iv) Forester in charge of Sections (Forest Division):

     A Forester will be in charge of each Section. The Section Forester will be responsible for protection of forests in his Section and will also for execution of all works various programmers in the field. In association with the VFW of the Range, he will promote and implement JFM activities in his Section.

(v) Forest Extension Officers:

    FEOs will be stationed at the headquarters of the concerned forest/ wildlife division. FEOs will work under the supervision of the ACF (JFM & Affn.) and assist him in extension activities to be undertaken in the Division.

(vi) Forest Guards:

     The Forest Guard will be in charge of a Forest Beat within a Section. He will be responsible for protection and management of forests in his Beat. He will be the grass-root of the Forest Deptt. and will act as inter-face between the villagers and Forest Department.

(vii) Village Forest Workers:

    Village Forest Workers will be attached to forest/ wildlife ranges. They will assist the Range Officer in organizing training camps for VSS members and execution of works relating to JFM taken up in the entire Range.

4. Main Function/ Activities of the public authority:

To implement the policy of the government in protection of forests and wild life and to raise plantations .
