Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. Aims & Objectives of the Organization:

   The aims and objectives of this Organization is to collect Kendu Leaves from the Public, both from the Govt. Lands/ Private lands, process it and sale to the purchasers (Bidi making companies) through Odisha Forest Corporation Ltd.

2. Mission/ Vision:

   The mission of the Department is to purchase Kendu Leaves from the Public for which the poor people will get jobs as well as the government will earn revenue by selling the products. Particularly it is labour intensive work. Some where the labourers are engaged as daily wage basis and some where on contact basis like processing bagging etc.

3. Brief History and Background for its establishment:

   The State government has decided to take up the Kendu Leaf Trade departmentally with effect from January, 1973. According to the decisions of the State Government, the Forest Department is collecting, processing, and bagging it and selling it through the Odisha Forest Corporation Ltd.

4. Allocation of Business:

   Patnagarh (KL) Division does its business in part of Bolangir district. i.e. entire Patnagarh Revenue Sub-Division (Patnagarh, Belpada and Khaprakhol C.D. Block), Part of Titilagarh Revenue Sub-Division (Turekela C.D. Division) which is in Bolangir District.

5. Duties to be performed to achieve the Mission:

   All efforts are being taken to achieve the target given to the division. Extensive tours are being made from top to bottom level Officers to achieve the target.

6. Details of Services Rendered:

   All the Officers are supervising for timely execution of all operational works i.e, coppicing of Kendu Leaf bushes, collection, processing, bagging, repair & construction works of Phadi houses, transport and disposal of Kendu Leaves as per works schedule agreement made with the Odisha Forest Corporation Ltd.

7. Citizen's Interaction:

   Video conference is being conducted at regular interval in the O/o DRDA, Bolangir to maintain coordination between the Officials and the Kenduleaf workers.
