Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1) Aims & Objectives of the Organization:

     The aims and objectives of the Organization is to collect Kendu Leaves from the Public, plucked from the Govt. Lands/ Private lands, process it and sale to the purchasers (Bidi making companies) by Odisha Forest Corporation Ltd.

2) Mission/ Vision:

     The mission of the Department is to purchase Kendu Leaves from the Public for which the poor which the poor people will get jobs as well as government earn revenue by selling the products.

3) Brief History and Background for its establishment:

     The State government has decided to take up the Kendu Leaf Trade departmentally with effect from January, 1973. According to the decisions of the State Government, the Forest Department will attend to the collection, processing, bagging and storage of K.L. And Odisha Forest Corporation Ltd. Will market the processed on behalf of the Govt.

4) Allocation of Business:

The Kendu leaf Trade does its business in part of Balangir & Sonepur district.

5) Duties to be performed to achieve the Mission:

     All efforts are being to achieve the target given to the division. Extensive tours are being made from top to bottom level Officers to achieve the target.

6) Details of Services Rendered:

     All the Officers are supervising the timely execution of all operational works i.e, coppicing of Kendu Leaf bushes, collection, processing, bagging, transport and disposal of Leaves as per works schedule agreement with Odisha Forest Corporation Ltd. Including repair & construction works of Phadi houses.

Video conference is being conducted at regular interval in the O/o DRDA, Balangir
